Osmo Teak Oil Spray is suitable for use on Teak, Garapa, Meranti, Koto, Bangkirai, Massaranduba and Iroko, as well as other exotic hardwoods. It can also be used on pressure impregnated wood like Pine.

Please Note: This product is only suitable for bare wood or previously oiled garden furniture and decking.

  • Osmo Teak Oil is also available in 750ml and 2.5Ltr tins for larger projects

Wood to be treated must be clean, dry and frost-free (maximum moisture content 20%).

  • Previously painted, varnished or stained wood must be stripped back to bare wood
  • Previously oiled wood should be lightly sanded to remove surface dirt and debris
  • Wood that has not been treated for many years may require a light sanding to remove loose wood fibres
  • Cover and protect surrounding areas and objects which are not to be treated with the spray
  • Remove any mould or algal growth with Osmo Gard Clean
  • To restore grey or silvered wood due to sun damage, treat with Osmo Wood Reviver Gel (6609)
  • Fill any holes or gaps in the wood with Osmo Exterior Gap Sealer
  • Pre-treat the wood with Osmo WR Base Coat for added protection if required
  • New hardwoods may not be ready to absorb additional oil, so allow to weather for approximately 4 weeks or clean with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner 8000 before spraying

Always do a test area before starting any project to test suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

  1. Shake the tin thoroughly before and periodically during application
  2. Spray at a distance of approximately 25cm from the surface of the wood
  3. After spraying, massage the teak oil into the wood with an Osmo Soft Tip Brush and wipe away any excess with a lint-free cloth
  4. Allow the first coat to dry for approximately 12 hours with good ventilation
  5. Apply a 2nd coat as above if required

This product is clear and does not contain any UV filters so the wood will turn grey / silver over time. If the original colour tone of freshly sawn wood should be kept (e.g. Bangkirai), we recommend applying a coat of Osmo Decking Oil in a natural shade or Osmo Natural Oil Woodstain in an appropriate colour tone.

Wooden surfaces treated with Osmo Teak Oil Spray should require little aftercare.

Regular Cleaning

Brush over wooden surface with a medium bristle bush to remove surface dirt and debris. A damp, lint-free cloth can also be used to wipe off liquid and food spillages.

Deep Cleaning

For stubborn marks, stains, mould and algae, we recommend cleaning with Osmo Decking Cleaner (8025) or other suitable exterior wood cleaner for oiled surfaces. For wood that has turned grey through sun and water damage, we recommend first restoring the colour with Osmo Wood Reviver Gel (6609) before re-oiling.

For areas that have become badly discoloured, scuffed or scratched, use a light abrasive to rub back the affected area before re-applying a small amount of Osmo Teak Oil to the damaged areas for a seamless repair.

Q: Is this the best teak oil spray for garden furniture?

A: Osmo spray is ideal for garden furniture for a number of reasons. Compared to other teak oils that require brush application, this product comes in a handy spray can for simple spray application. This makes it perfect for quick patch repairs which could otherwise prove more time consuming.
