Overview

Overview

Back

Osmo Wood Putty is a clear polymer dispersion for filling cracks and joints in sanded parquet. Suitable for filling small cracks 2mm or less for damages in wooden flooring and parquet. Can be used universally on all wood species. Not suitable for elastic constructions, e.g. plank or sprung floors as well as cork flooring.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure the project area is clean and free of any dust or contaminants.

  • Sand the surface down to the raw wood surface, ensuring the area is free of oils, fat, grease or any other elements of dirt
  • If necessary, clean the area with a suitable detergent, making sure the surface is clean and dry
  • The final sanding work should be completed with a belt sander with P80 grit and an edge sander at P60 grit

Please note: When mixing sanding dust to the wood putty only use clean dust for this process

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times

  • Ensure the putty is well stirred before application to thoroughly blend the sediment and polymer
  • If possible, add the sanding dust of a similar size, 80-120 is recommended, and the same type of wood and mix into a thick paste
  • Avoid fibrous sanding dust as this can lead to bad mixing properties and poor adhesion
  • Osmo Wood Putty can be applied by a double blade scraper, such as the Osmo Double Blade Scraper
  • Fill flooring diagonally with a rust-free double bladed scraper whilst pressing down firmly to fill the gaps in the joints
  • Any dirt or stains created by the application can be quickly cleaned with water

Please note:

  • The wood putty mixture and the processing strongly depends on the species of the wood and the sanding dust, a trial application is strongly recommended
  • Do not use Osmo Wood Putty to fill joints in sprung or plankwood flooring

Not worth it
The product is already chipping off the floorboards. The item was delivered but the container had exploded and once I reached out to the company they said they cannot help with this problem. Instructions were also not great.
