Overview

Overview

Back

Osmo Concrete Oil is a blend of natural oils and waxes which form a water and dirt repellent barrier. It is ideally suited for use in kitchens and bathrooms - on floors, wall paneling, window sills, table tops and work tops made of concrete, screed, artificial and natural stone, and unglazed tiles. Greatly reduces dust from concrete and screed surfaces and protects against staining.

Looking for an oil which protects external stone and concrete, try Osmo Stone and Terracotta Oil.

Please note: Applying this product to porous, underfoot surfaces such as tile flooring may alter the surface characteristics and slip resistance. Seek manufacturers advice for hand-made tiles such as terracotta, as a higher wax level may be required.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure that surfaces to be coated are clean, dry and free from dirt, dust, grease, wax, polish and any other surface contaminants. To ensure successful treatment, Osmo Concrete Oil should be applied to porous substrates only.

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish, as yellowing may occur on white and light coloured surfaces. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

Stone and Terracotta Oil is ready for use in the container and should not be diluted. Stir well, do not shake.

  1. Apply first coat thinly and evenly using an Osmo Microfiber Floor Roller in Freshbox or Osmo Floor Brush and for small areas an Osmo Soft Tip Brush or Osmo Oil Finish Application Fleece
  2. Remove any surplus oil using a pad or lint free cloth
  3. For larger areas, remove any excess oil using a rubber scraper and polish with a buffing machine
  4. Once all oil has been absorbed, allow to dry for 8-10 hours
  5. Apply a second thin coat and allow to fully dry
  6. If renovating a previously oiled finish, then one coat on a prepared surface should be sufficient

Cleaning Equipment

Application equipment can be cleaned using Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner (8000)

Regular Cleaning

For everyday cleaning, surfaces treated with Osmo Concrete Oil can be cleaned daily using Osmo Spray Cleaner (8026).

Maintenance

To maintain the finish, apply a fresh coat of Osmo Concrete Oil as and when required, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.

Good product, but be aware it does leave a discernible yellow cast on pale concrete
Easy to use and good finish. The small print does warn that it can show up yellow on paler concrete, but was surprised just how yellow it is. Despite this it is still a good product and would recommend.

Great waterproofer
We bought this for a garage floor that was really dusty and we had a lot of water going into. It was a very strong odour when applying and for a while after but the floor is now not so dusty and the water just sits on the top now. I am really happy with the finish.

Amazing
I love the look of this osmo oil - everything about it is so lovely to admire and its durability is fab. The only minor problem is the smell which can be overwhelming for a lightweight like me - makes my eyes sore ?

Another great product from Wood Finishes Direct
Another great product from Wood Finishes Direct, or should I say "Concrete Finishes Direct" This was easy to find on their website, easy to order, delivered the next day before noon and easy to use. It did exactly what I wanted it to. It was very easy to use. I would have no hesitation in recommending this product and Wood Finishes Direct to anyone.

Fantastic oil, perfect for my garage
I used this to seal a concrete floor in my garage; the colour wasn't too dark and exactly the look I wanted to achieve.

Used it for years, always delivers
I use this to seal and protect poured concrete fireplace hearths. Totally prevents and staining from ash and such.

Does exactly what it says on the tin!
Have yet to try an osmo product that doesn't work exactly as described.
