Liberon Garden ColourCare Decorative Woodstain

Liberon Garden ColourCare Decorative Woodstain is ideal for all exterior woodwork, including wooden shutters, gates, fences, windows and beams. It is suitable for use on most types of European and exotic woods, new and old, including Oak, Softwood, Larch, Douglas and Red Cedar.

Please note: Liberon state that the different colour variations for this product produce different finishes. The 'Smoked Spruce' and 'White Cedar' colours produce a more 'matt' finish whilst the 'Coppery Douglas' produces a 'metallic' like sheen. The 'Silver Grey' and 'Ashen Oak' colours produce a 'shimmery/metallic' finish. Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish.

Ensure that surfaces to be stained are clean, dry and free from traces of dirt, durst, grease and any other surface contaminants.

Bare or New Timber

1. Fill any holes, splits or surface imperfections with a suitable wood filler
2. Lightly sand bare wood to obtain a smooth surface
3. Sand angles and edges to lightly round off
4. Remove any sanding dust
5. Degrease the surface by wiping down with a lint-free cloth dampened with white spirit
6. For best protection, pre-treat wood with a suitable wood preserver

Previously Stained Timber

1. Brush to remove any loose or flaking finishes
2. Lightly sand to obtain a smooth surface, removing any sanding dust
3. For blackened woods, apply an exterior wood bleacher or a suitable undercoat to the affected area

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Do not apply Garden ColourCare Decorative Woodstain on heat-treated woods, thermo-treated woods or acidic woods. Ideal application conditions are between 12°C and 25°C in dry weather. Do not apply Decorative Woodstain in strong winds or when bad weather is forecast. Stir the product well before and during use using a wide stick.

1. Apply 2 coats of Decorative Woodstain with a good quality synthetic brush, microfibre roller or spray applicator
2. For spray application, dilute the stain with 10% water
3. Lightly sand the surface between coats, removing any sanding dust
4. For bright colours on new or exposed woods, it may be necessary to apply a 3rd coat
5. When treating bare hardwoods, such as Oak, Chestnut, Larch, Douglas, Red Cedar and exotic hardwoods, dilute the first coat with 15% water and apply a non-diluted second coat, avoiding over-generous application
6. For south and south-west exposition, apply 3 coats
7. Allow 12 hours to fully dry

Please Note: The 8 Year Guarantee applies to new wood, wood to be renovated, and usual wood species, when the product is applied according to the Preparation and Application instructions above. The guarantee is limited to refunding of the product (presentation of the receipt and the tin is required) and concerns only the aspect of the paint.

Maintenance

To maintain the protective qualities of the finish, simply apply a fresh coat of Liberon Garden ColourCare Decorative Woodstain as and when required, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
