Overview

Overview

Back

Liberon Wood Filler is a highly versatile wood filler that can be used to repair a wide range of wooden surfaces, including those that need to be nailed or screwed. This strong yet flexible filler can be easily sanded to achieve a smooth, even surface then finished with a variety of wood finishing products.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure the area to be repaired is clean, dry and free from dust, dirt and any other surface contaminants. Select the colour which is closest to the colour of the wood, adapting your choice if dying the wood.

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

  1. Apply the filler using a plastic scraper or suitable filling knife
  2. Small holes may be filled in one operation; deeper holes should be built up in layers
  3. For best results, avoid over-spreading the repair area, but leave sufficient over-fill to enable thorough sanding
  4. Allow to dry thoroughly for 2 hours or more depending on the depth of the repair
  5. Then sand, colour and finish as required

Please Note: Liberon Wood Filler may accept dyes/stains differently to the surrounding wood. When using outdoors, protect with a suitable exterior grade finish.

Finishing

Finishing

Back

Once Liberon Wood Filler is fully dry and sanded smooth, the surface is ready to be coated with a suitable stain, paint, wax or varnish.

I want a filler that I can use to fill a gap between two pieces of plywood and then be able stain the wood and filler without seeing the joint afterwards. Will this work?

Yes, be sure to sand the surface after the filler has dried to achieve a smooth surface. The Liberon wood filler may accept stains differently to the surrounding wood. Always select the colour based on the colour of the wood but adapt your choice if you are dying the wood. You can also mix the shades together to create your own unique blend of colour.

OK for the right job
This is a good hard two part wood filler which could be just what is required for filling holes damaged wood. However it does go off in about 10 mins once the hardener is added and becomes difficult to use before that. It therefore has to be applied very quickly. Once in place it is adheres very well - too well to the surrounding area! - is easy to scrape or chisel off surface but, again you don't have very long to do this. I used it to fill a series of nail holes and it is probably the wrong product for that.

Good, easy to use
Matched the wood colour very well, with it being a small tin I think I would rather use the product from a tube.

Love Liberon products, they are the best
Use for filling in my century old oak front door. Brilliant colour and goes on smoothly, sands easily and dries quickly. What more can you want?
