Overview

Overview

Back

Liberon Floor Oil is ideal for use on all types of interior, untreated, real wood and parquet flooring. It is particularly well suited to humid and moisture-rich environments, such as kitchens and bathrooms, but can be used anywhere in the home. The finish enhances the natural grain and character of the wood whilst providing excellent protection and durability.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Any previous floor finishes must be completely removed and the surface stripped back to bare wood. Ensure that floors to be oiled are clean, dry and free from dust, dirt or any other surface contaminants.

  1. Any previous varnishes can be removed with a suitable paint and varnish remover
  2. Fill any gaps or imperfections with a suitable product from the range of Liberon wood fillers
  3. Sand the floor taking care to remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner

If required, wooden floors can be stained using Liberon Palette Wood Dye or other suitable wood stain prior to applying Liberon Floor Oil.

Application

Application

Back
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

  1. For best results, apply with a natural bristle brush, microfibre roller or lint-free cloth, working with the grain of the wood wherever possible
  2. Allow the oil to penetrate into the wood for 10-20 minutes, then wipe over the surface with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to remove any excess oil. Failure to do so will reduce penetration of subsequent coats and produce an uneven finish
  3. A minimum of 3 coats is recommended, lightly sanding or denibbing between coats
  4. More coats may be required on porous timbers or for a more durable finish
  5. Allow a minimum of 12 hours between coats and 24 hours after the last coat before heavy use of the floor

Regular Cleaning

Oiled floors can be regularly cleaned using a dedicated wood floor cleaner for oiled floors and a microfibre mop or cloth. Any spills should be wiped up immediately.

For stubborn stains, a mild detergent can be used. Alternatively, lightly sand the affected area to remove the stain and then re-apply Liberon Floor Oil.

Maintenance

Re-oil surfaces if they become dull and tired-looking over time.

  1. To check the surface is properly sealed, drop a small amount of water onto the surface
  2. Leave for 10-15 minutes and if the water remains on the surface then enough Floor Oil has been applied
  3. If not then further coats of Floor Oil are required

Great finish
A little patchy on the first coat. Fine after a second, would probably be even better with a third.

Perfect for our block wood floor
Brought out the vibrant colour of the wood. I wouldn't describe it as non slip, but certainly less sloppy than other products. Our dog is happy as he has not slipped on it yet!
