Sadolin Woodshield High Pigment Woodstain is ideal for a wide range of exterior applications, including wooden doors, windows, conservatories, cladding and fascias. Made from a blend of alkyd / acrylic resins.
This product can also be used as a maintenance coat for Sadolin Superdec Opaque Wood Protection.
10 year protection can be expected from 3 coats applied correctly to a good quality substrate in sound condition in a moderate climate.
Timber surfaces must be clean, dry and free of any surface dirt, debris and loose material. The moisture content of the wood should not exceed 18% prior to coating.
Always do a small test area before starting any project to assess product suitability, adhesion and end result. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
Sadolin Woodshield should not be applied if there is a risk of rain, or when air / substrate temperatures are below 8° or above 25°, or if the relative humidity is above 80% during the application or drying period. Treated surfaces must be protected from frost and rain until fully dry. Failure to meet these requirements may adversely affect the drying, visual quality and durability of the finish.
Stir thoroughly before and during application to ensure consistent sheen and colour. Failure to do this may result in variations in the final finish.
A lightening in colour, reduction in sheen and a loss of water-repellency is an indication that maintenance is required. For general light maintenance, lightly abrade in the direction of the wood grain and clean using warm water and a mild detergent, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Once dry, a fresh coat of Sadolin Woodshield High Pigment Woodstain may then be applied.
If the finish is badly flaking or peeling, to the point where the bare wood is showing through or has started to grey, please follow the full Preparation and Application instructions above.
