Overview

Overview

Back

Little Greene Intelligent Satin is a tough, water-based satin paint designed for woodwork, trim, and furniture. Combining durability with style, it offers a refined mid-sheen finish that resists stains, wear, and everyday knocks. Suitable for both interior and exterior use, this versatile paint is child-safe, low odour, and available in every Little Greene shade.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Before applying Little Greene Intelligent Satin, ensure all surfaces are properly prepared to achieve a smooth and durable finish.

  1. Strip back any peeling, blistering or defective coatings using a scraper, sanding tool, or suitable paint remover
  2. Older surfaces painted before the 1960s may contain lead, so follow the correct safety guidance when preparing these areas
  3. Clean down existing paintwork with a mild detergent solution such as sugar soap, rinse well with clean water, and allow to dry fully
  4. Glossy or high-sheen coatings should be thoroughly sanded to create a good key for adhesion
  5. Repair imperfections with a suitable filler, sand smooth, and remove dust with a damp, lint-free cloth
  6. Apply primer or a thinned first coat on bare, porous, or problem areas before finishing with full coats of Intelligent Satin
  7. This product is not suitable for use on lime plaster or natural plaster finishes

Application

Application

Back

Always test a small area before beginning your project to confirm colour, adhesion, and finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin for the best results.

Apply only in well-ventilated spaces, and avoid painting if temperatures fall below 8°C or if there is a risk of frost or rain when working outdoors.

For consistent colour across your project, purchase enough paint for the whole job, keeping extra for future touch-ups.

  1. Stir Little Greene Intelligent Satin thoroughly before and during use to maintain an even mix
  2. Apply 2 full coats with a high-quality synthetic brush, short-nap roller, or by spray application
  3. Allow a minimum of 4 hours between coats, depending on temperature and ventilation
  4. Maintain a wet edge, finishing each section with smooth strokes to avoid lap marks
  5. For dramatic colour changes or high-contrast surfaces, an additional coat or undercoat may be required

Aftercare

Aftercare

Back

Once your surfaces have been painted with Little Greene Intelligent Satin, a little care will help maintain their durability and appearance.

  • Allow the coating to cure fully before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance
  • Dust surfaces regularly using a soft cloth, feather duster, or vacuum with a brush attachment
  • For light marks, gently clean with a damp sponge or cloth and a small amount of mild washing-up liquid
  • Avoid abrasive pads, harsh detergents, or scrubbing as these may dull the satin sheen
  • For the most consistent appearance, repaint entire panels or sections rather than spot repairing
