Bona R848T Floor Adhesive is a professional wood flooring adhesive designed for installations where strong initial hold and greater control during fitting are important. Its thicker consistency makes it easier to achieve a stable adhesive bed, helping when laying parquet, mosaic and engineered wood flooring.
Well suited to both domestic and commercial projects, it offers a practical choice where reliable bonding and efficient progress on site matter. As part of the Bona flooring system, it can be used alongside compatible preparation, cleaning and finishing products for a complete installation approach.
Suitable for parquet, mosaic and engineered wood flooring onto a wide range of prepared subfloors including concrete, cementitious screeds, chipboard, OSB and other sound interior substrates. It is also suitable for use with many underfloor heating systems when installation guidelines are followed.
| Product | Use |
| Bona R848 Floor Adhesive | Flexible silane adhesive for secure bonding of wood floors |
| Bona Quantum Floor Adhesive | High strength adhesive for wider boards and fast fitting |
| Bona Quantum T Floor Adhesive | Trowel applied adhesive for smooth spreading and strong bonds |
| Bona Titan Adhesive | Ultra strong adhesive for demanding floors and large boards |
| Bona Vertical | High grab adhesive for stairs, trims and skirting boards |
Thorough preparation is essential for a secure bond and a successful wood flooring installation. The subfloor must be clean, dry, level and structurally sound before application. Remove dust, dirt, grease and any surface contamination that may reduce adhesion. A lightly textured surface is often beneficial for best results.
Please Note: Allow repair compounds and levelling products to fully cure before laying wood flooring. Do not install over movement joints or structural expansion joints.
We recommend trialing a test area before starting your project to check suitability and compatibility. Ensure the room temperature is at least 18°C, floor temperature is at least 15°C (maximum 20°C with underfloor heating) and relative humidity does not exceed 70%. Bring the adhesive to room temperature before use for best working consistency.
Use a finer trowel for smaller flooring elements or smoother floors, and a coarser trowel for larger boards or rougher surfaces. Coverage rates may vary depending on floor flatness and surface texture.
Light foot traffic is possible after approximately 12 hours. Full cure is typically achieved after 24 to 48 hours, depending on site conditions.
For full installation guidance, always refer to the latest Bona Technical Data Sheet.
Once the flooring has been installed, allow the adhesive to cure fully before carrying out sanding, sealing or finishing work. Drying times can vary depending on flooring type, site temperature and humidity.
Please Note: Avoid covering the floor with non-breathable sheeting, rugs or mats until the adhesive and subfloor have fully dried.
1) What is Bona R848T Floor Adhesive used for?
Bona R848T is used for bonding parquet, mosaic parquet and engineered wood flooring to suitable prepared subfloors.
2) What is the difference between Bona R848 and Bona R848T?
Bona R848T has a thicker consistency than Bona R848, giving it improved initial grab and better rib stability during installation.
3) Does Bona R848T need a primer?
A primer is not normally required on suitable prepared subfloors. On weak, porous or difficult surfaces, a suitable Bona primer may be recommended.
4) How long does Bona R848T take to dry?
Light foot traffic is usually possible after approximately 12 hours. Full cure is typically achieved within 24 to 48 hours, depending on site conditions.
5) Can Bona R848T be used with underfloor heating?
Yes, it can be used with suitable wood flooring and underfloor heating systems when the heating protocol and flooring manufacturer guidance are followed.
6) Is Bona R848T water based?
No. Bona R848T is a silane-based adhesive, but it is water and solvent free.
7) How much Bona R848T will I need?
Usage depends on the flooring type, trowel size and surface texture. As a guide, consumption ranges from approximately 850 g/m² to 1250 g/m², or 2000 to 2200 g/m² when used for moisture barrier application.
