Ensure that surface to be painted is clean, dry and free from any dust, dirt, grease or any other surface contaminants.
- Remove any flaking or defective paint and sand down the wood surface to remove any sheen
- For exterior surfaces, remove any mould, algae or fungus with a dedicated mould and mildew cleaner
- Fill any holes or gaps in the wood with a suitable wood filler

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess compatibility and consistency of the final finish and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Apply Dulux Once Gloss using a good quality synthetic paint brush in the direction of the wood grain
- Allow 16 hours for the paint to fully dry
Cleaning
Once finished, scrape off any excess paint from your brush and clean it with a suitable paint brush cleaner.

Maintenance
If the finish shows signs of wear over time, simply apply a fresh coat of Dulux Once Gloss paint, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.

Can I use Once Gloss on plastic as well as metal?
It cannot be used on its own on untreated plastic although a light key may help adhesion, for best results, always use the relevant primer.

Great finish and saves a lot of time and effort
Have used this for a few years now and am a fan. Finish is equal to the old undercoat / liquid gloss that I used to use but so much easier. It will leave pit marks if preparation doesn't remove all greasy spots from the surface, so a good wash with sugar soap first is highly recommended. Obviously, the colour will yellow slightly over time (no more than any other spirit based paints), but until water based paints match the finish and durability of these, this is the one for me.

Used on soffits , plastic gutters and downpipes
Undercoated the soffits as they were particularly bad but would have no hesitation on one application next time. Plastic covered well as did metal gas meter cabinet
