Zinsser Perma-White Interior Matt Paint

Zinsser Perma-White Interior Matt Paint is a durable, mould resistant, interior paint. It provides long lasting protection on a range of surfaces in high humidity areas, such as kitchens, bathrooms, wet rooms, laundry rooms, basements, hot tub rooms, locker rooms, and more. A self priming paint which can be applied to new or previously painted drywall, cured plaster, cement, concrete blocks, ceramic tiles, laminates, and primed or previously painted surfaces without the need for sanding. Can be used to overcoat any quality waterproofing coating to prevent mould and mildew growth.

To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry), and free from all defective or poorly adhering material, dirt, grease and dust.

1. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead
2. Remove and treat any mould and mildew on interior surfaces using Zinsser Mould Killer and Remover
3. If using in commercial buildings or schools and care homes etc. Follow appropriate guidelines for mould removal
4. Cover any staining from mould and mildew, tanning or rust using Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 prior to coating

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Only apply at temperatures ranging between 10°C and 32°C and a relative humidity of no more than 80%.

1. Stir thoroughly before and periodically during use
2. Apply evenly and consistently, using a good quality synthetic bristle brush, microfibre roller, applicator pad or spray gun (Use tip size 0.017 at pressure 2000 - 2600 psi)
3. It is recommended that 2 coats of Zinsser Perma-White Interior are applied
4. Allow 2 hours drying time between coats
5. When used in bathrooms, allow 24 hours to fully dry before subjecting surfaces to steam and moisture
6. Surfaces become scratch resistant in 5 - 7 days, when fully cured

Thinning Guidelines

• Normal use: Thinning is not required
• Conventional and Airless spray application (not to be exceeded): Add up to 10% of water

Cleaning Equipment

Clean brushes, rollers and any spillages immediately after use, using warm soapy water.

Is Permawhite paint non-flammable?
This is a water-based product so is non-flammable. Please note- this does not mean it is a fire-retardant coating and does not conform to class 0 or class 1 'spread of flame' specifications.

Can the Perma White be painted over with a different paint in a different colour?

How much wall will a 5L of Permawhite cover?
Zinsser recommend a coverage of up to 10m² per litre, per coat, 2 coats are recommended with Permawhite so a 5L would cover approx. 27.5m² on two coats.

Can Perma-White be used to paint bathroom floor?
This is not durable enough under foot and wouldn't last very long at all. Instead, consider using a wax-free, interior preservative treatment. This will soak into the heart of the timber and protect it from future mould growth. If the mould issue is already present, you will need to completely eradicate the bacteria using a dedicated treatment before continuing. Take a look at Barrettine Mould and Mildew Cleaner.

Can Perma White be applied to damp walls or must they be dry before application?

The Perma White paint is a high performance acrylic interior paint which is uniquely formulated to beautify and protect interior surfaces while preventing mould and mildew growth on the paint film for 7 years.

Can I use Perma-White Interior Paint on my kitchen wall which is bare render?
This is perfectly fine as long as you prime and seal the render first using Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 followed by two coats of Zinsser Perma-White.
