Sandtex Microseal Smooth Masonry Paint

All surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, grease, dust and any loose material that may affect adhesion. Proper preparation is essential to achieve a smooth, long lasting finish on exterior masonry surfaces.

• New render, concrete and masonry surfaces should be fully cured and completely dry before painting
• Remove all loose, peeling or flaking coatings by scraping and brushing with a stiff bristle brush
• Repair cracks and damaged areas with Sandtex Ready Mixed Masonry Filler before application to create a smooth, even surface
• Treat mould, algae and organic growth with a suitable mould and mildew cleaner before painting
• Weathered, chalky and porous surfaces should be brushed down and treated with a suitable stabilising solution, such as Sandtex Quick Drying Stabilising Solution before application
• Coverage will vary depending on the texture and porosity of the masonry surface

We recommend trialing a test area before starting your project to check suitability, coverage and colour appearance. Colours may appear different depending on lighting conditions and surface texture, so testing in an inconspicuous area is always best practice. For consistent colour, intermix packs before application if using more than one batch.

For best results, apply in dry conditions when temperatures remain above 10°C during application and drying. Do not apply during rain, frost or in damp conditions. Although shower resistant in as little as 1 hour, longer drying times may be required during cooler or humid weather.

Please Note: This product is not suitable for common, fletton or engineering type bricks.

• Stir thoroughly before use and periodically during application to maintain an even consistency and colour.
• Apply evenly using a good quality masonry brush, long pile exterior roller or suitable airless spray system.
• Apply 2 full coats for a smooth, durable finish with consistent colour and protection.
• Allow approximately 3-4 hours drying time between coats under normal drying conditions.
• Additional coats may be required on highly porous surfaces or when covering darker colours.
• Clean brushes, rollers and equipment with clean water immediately after use.

Regular cleaning and basic maintenance will help keep exterior masonry surfaces looking fresh and protected for longer. Remove dirt, algae and organic growth as it appears using a soft brush and a suitable exterior cleaner to help maintain the appearance of the finish.

Periodically inspect painted surfaces for cracks, damaged areas or signs of weathering, particularly on exposed walls and roughcast surfaces. Repair any defects before touching up with additional coats of Sandtex Microseal Ultra Smooth Masonry Paint to maintain long term protection and appearance.
