Ronseal Total Wood Preservative has been formulated to provide long lasting protection against woodworm attack, wood rot, decay and blue stain fungus.
Please note: The clear version of this product comes in a blue tin and is suitable for interior joinery. The clear wax free formula protects roofing timbers, floor joists and more from dry rot, woodworm and can be over-painted with water-based products if required.
Tin design change: The packaging for this product is changing but the product inside remains the same. The top 3rd of the new tin is silver and is printed with the words "Made for the trade" on the lower left of the tin.
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
Shake or stir well prior to and during application, more so when using the coloured version to ensure a consistent colour and finish.
Total Wood Preservative can be brush, dip or spray applied. If spraying, use a coarse spray and avoid misting. Avoid contact with bitumen, bitumen felt, mastics and plastics.
The clear exterior wood preserver in this range does not contain wax so therefore only provides limited waterproofing protection, however it can be top coated with oil, water or solvent-based products.
The coloured versions of Ronseal Total Wood Preserver contain a small amount of wax that provides some water repellency and weather protection. Due to the wax content in the coloured variations, it cannot be over-coated with paints, varnishes and other coating systems. For added protection and weatherproofing, a solvent-based exterior wood oil can be applied after several months of weathering.
Please note: Ronseal recommend that the coloured version of this product that contains wax is not overcoated with an exterior wood oil.
If being used as a stand alone wood treatment, Ronseal Total Wood Preserver can be easily maintained by applying a fresh coat on a yearly or 2-yearly basis as required.
Please Note: If this product is being over-coated with a top-coat it will retain its preserving properties for around 5 years. This is only if the top-coat is maintained and stays intact.
