Ronseal Shed and Fence Preserver

Ronseal Shed and Fence Preserver is an all-in-one wood treatment for garden sheds and fences. It's complete formula waterproofs and protects wood from mould, algae, and insect attack making it ideal for any exterior wood that requires protection from the elements.

New Bare Timber

• Ensure all wooden surfaces to be treated are clean, dry, and free from any traces of dirt, debris, or any other surface contaminants

Previously Coated Timber

• Any surface coatings such as paint, varnish, or stain must be fully removed by sanding back to bare wood or by using a suitable varnish, stain or paint stripper, prior to applying a wood preservative

Old Timber

1. Wood that has become decayed should be removed and replaced
2. Cut out and burn all decayed wood at least 45cm beyond the area of damage
3. Brush down the wood with a stiff broom or brush to remove any ingrained surface dirt
4. Traces of mould, algae or fungi must be removed with a stiff brush or scraper
5. Areas that have been affected by mould, algae or fungi should be treated with suitable mould and algae cleaner for exterior wood
6. Fill in any gaps or imperfections in the wood with Ronseal High Performance Wood Filler or Ronseal Multi Purpose Wood Filler

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Please note: It is essential that this product is stirred thoroughly before and during application. The colour pigments can sink to the bottom of the tin and thorough stirring is required to ensure a consistent colour and finish. Avoid contact with bitumen, bitumen felt, mastics, and plastics.

1. Ronseal Shed & Fence Preserver can be applied with a Ronseal Fence Life Brush, or by dipping. Can also be spray applied with the Selecta 7 Shed and Fence Spray System but is not suitable to be used with Ronseal Fence Sprayer.
2. Where possible, end grain should be dipped or given extra coats to ensure the best possible protection
3. Apply 2 coats for eradication of woodworm in roof joists, floorboards, joinery, and small timbers; 3 coats for eradication of dry and wet rot and insect attack in existing or replacement timbers
4. Allow 24 hours drying time between coats

After a period of weathering, the preserved timber can be over-coated with a suitable exterior wood oil to maintain its weatherproof properties. When over-coating and for the best results, always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Maintenance

If being used as a stand alone wood treatment, Ronseal Shed and Fence Preserver can be easily maintained by applying a fresh coat on a yearly or 2-yearly basis as required.

Please Note: If this product is over-coated with a clear exterior wood oil or decking oil, it will retain its preserving properties for around 5 years. This is only if the exterior wood oil or decking oil is re-applied and maintained on a yearly basis.

This Shed and Fence Preserver from Ronseal colours and protects wood by impregnating the timber with a variety of ingredients and colour pigments. The combination of active ingredients protect the wood from a range of biological threats while the waxes and resins provide the water and weather resistance.
