Overview

Overview

Back

Ronseal One Coat Wood Primer and Undercoat is for use on bare and previously painted interior wood surfaces. It is ideal for skirting boards and architraves, only requires one coat and dries in just 2 hours ready for over-coating.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure that surfaces to be primed are clean, dry, and free from any dirt, dust or other surface contaminants. Make sure room temperature is above 10°c. Put down dust sheets to protect areas not to be painted.

Bare Wood

  1. Lightly sand wood in the direction of the wood grain
  2. Any old, decayed, loose wood must be removed before treating the affected area with Ronseal Wet Rot Wood Hardener prior to filling
  3. Any existing woodworm can be eradicated with Ronseal Woodworm Killer
  4. Fill any gaps in the wood with Ronseal High Performance Wood Filler or Ronseal Multi Purpose Wood Filler
  5. Clean and degrease the wood by wiping over with a lint-free cloth dampened with white spirit prior to coating

Previously Painted Wood

  1. If paint is in good condition, a light sanding is all that is needed
  2. If paint is flaking, peeling or cracked, it must be taken back to bare wood by stripping or sanding
  3. If the wood shows signs of rot or decay, follow the process above for 'Bare Wood'
  4. Wipe down with white spirit, being sure to remove any excess sanding dust before applying Ronseal One Coat Wood Primer

Application

Application

Back

Always do a small test area before beginning any project to assess adhesion and overall performance. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Stir thoroughly before use.

  1. Apply Ronseal Wood Primer and Undercoat with a good quality synthetic brush or microfibre roller
  2. Allow 2 hours to dry before applying a suitable top coat

Finishing

Finishing

Back

Once fully dry, Ronseal One Coat Wood Primer and Undercoat can be overcoated with a suitable Ronseal top coat, such as Ronseal Stays White Ultra Tough Paint or Ronseal Stays White One Coat Non Drip Paint.

Good first coat
I've used this product for a few months now, although is says one coat I always apply two. It has good opacity and is easy to rub down, it's a thumbs up from me.

Loving water based paint
1st time user of water based undercoat over existing oil based paints. Equal to oil based but cleaning brushes so much easier, and no smell. A win win for me.

Fantastic product
My mum suffers from COPD, so fumes are an issue when it comes to decorating. This product not only dries super quick, but there is totally no odour.

Great Job
after a good rub down of the wood, this product covered with only one coat and the joy of washing your brushes with warm water, also no strong smell.
