Ronseal Diamond Hard Floor Varnish

Ronseal Diamond Hard Floor Varnish is suitable for use over most domestic softwood and hardwood flooring, as well as hardboard, chipboard and wood composite. The polyurethane acrylate dispersion formula dries to a tough, durable finish that is available in a range of sheen levels.

Please Note: This product is not suitable for use on laminate floors or for commercial environments such as pubs, restaurants, community halls etc.

Alternative Ronseal Paints & Varnishes

For Unvarnished Floors:

1. Fill holes or surface imperfections with suitable wood filler such as Ronseal High Performance Wood Filler or Ronseal Multi Purpose Wood Filler
2. Sand any areas repaired with a wood filler smooth
3. Existing coatings such as oils, waxes and stains must be sanded back to clean, bare wood. Do not use an abrasive paper finer than 120 grade for the final sand
4. Vacuum sanded floorboards thoroughly to remove all traces of sanding dust
5. Wipe over with white spirit and allow to dry

For Varnished Floors:

1. Lightly sand existing floor varnishes with 120 grade sandpaper to provide a key
2. Vacuum area to remove all traces of sanding dust
3. Wipe over with white spirit and allow to dry
4. Old varnish coatings in poor condition should be completely removed

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Do not apply at temperatures below 10°C. Allow for good ventilation. Stir contents of the tin thoroughly before and during application to ensure a consistent finish.

1. Apply using a good quality synthetic paint brush
2. Start in the corner furthest from the door and work along the length of 2 floor boards at a time
3. Apply the varnish evenly and finish in the direction of the wood grain
4. For best results, work along individual floor boards and maintain a wet edge to avoid overlaps
5. Avoid over-brushing as this will spread the finish too thinly and affect performance
6. Apply 3 coats of Diamond Hard Varnish to give the best protection, leaving 2 hours between each coat
7. Before the final coat, lightly rub down with 240 grade abrasive paper, then wipe over with a damp lint-free cloth and allow to dry

Ronseal Diamond Hard Floor Varnish is touch dry within 30 minutes, with a re-coat time of 2 hours.

Regular Cleaning

For everyday cleaning, floors can be vacuumed or dry swept with a broom or microfibre floor mop to remove any surface dirt or grit that might cause scratches to the finish. For surface stains, scuffs or marks, clean with a damp (not wet) microfibre cloth or mop.

Deep Cleaning

For more stubborn marks, use a dedicated wood floor cleaner. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container.

Repair

Damaged areas can be repaired by local applications of Ronseal Diamond Hard Floor Varnish and additional full coatings should be applied as appropriate.

As long as a suitable floor paint was used, and the paint has fully cured. The areas need to be given a key for good adhesion, then this should work. Always try a test area first to ensure products suitability.
