Morrells Induro XLA Anti-Slip Floor Varnish

Morrells Induro XLA Anti-Slip Floor Varnish is a two-component, water-based, 100% polyurethane anti-slip, floor varnish. This product range is ideal for use in areas of high traffic levels and where there is an increased risk of scuffing and spillages. Perfect for use in schools, restaurants, retail premises and domestic properties that require extra protection.

Tested to BS 7976-2 (Wet and Dry slip resistance) to conform with UK slip resistance guidelines.

When used in conjunction with Morrells Induro General Purpose Sealer they produce finishes with excellent clarity and a woodwarming effect.

It also offers protection against E-coli.MRSA, Salmonella, Listeria and other harmful bacterial with a 99% kill rate within 24 hours.

Ensure that floors to be varnished are clean, dry and free from dust, dirt or any other surface contaminants.

1. All previous finishes must be completely removed back to bare wood by stripping or sanding the wood
2. Fill any gaps or splits in the wood surface with Morrells Two-Part Coloured Wood Fillers or other suitable wood filler
3. New wood can be cleaned and degreased with methylated spirit if required
4. Freshly sanded floors should be swept and vacuumed to remove all traces of sanding dust, dirt and debris
5. Prior to varnishing, softwood floors can be stained with Morrells Light Fast Wood Stain if desired
6. The application of Morrells Induro General Purpose Sealer or Morrells Induro Isolating Sealer, prior to varnishing is recommended for better adhesion to the substrate

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

Morrells Induro XLA Floor Varnish comes supplied with enough catalyst / hardener for the 5 litres of lacquer. If part mixing, use 9 parts lacquer to 1 part catalyst.

1. Recommended application is with a short pile roller. Mohair Flooring pads or T-bar applicators can also be used
2. For domestic environments: Prime with Morrells Induro General Purpose Sealer or Morrells Induro Isolating Sealer, then 1 coat of Morrells Induro XL2 Floor Varnish, then 1 top coat of Induro XLA Anti-Slip Floor Varnish
3. For commercial environments: prime, then 2 coats of Induro XL2 Floor Varnish, then 1 top coat of Induro XLA Anti-Slip Floor Varnish

Alternatively, the initial coat of primer can be replaced with an extra coat of Induro XL2.

Application brushes and equipment should be cleaned immediately after use with warm, soapy water and wiped dry.

The chosen primer should not be lightly sanded, or denibbed, however the coats of Induro XL2 should be denibbed between coats to aid adhesion.

Once final coat has dried, light traffic can be resumed after 24 hours. Do not place furniture or move furniture across the floor surface for at least 3 days after application. Avoid mats, rugs or floor coverings for the first 5 days as this will impede final cure and general performance of the product.

Please note: Once the catalyst has been mixed with the lacquer, it has a usable open time of 5 hours. It is recommended that only the amount required for each coat is mixed at any time to avoid product wastage.

Morrells Induro XLA Anti-Slip Floor Varnish will typically require 7 days to reach full hardness, so wet cleaning and vacuuming should be avoided until after this period.

The use of good quality entrance mats and furniture pads are recommended to avoid damage to the finish. Surfaces should be swept or vacuumed regularly to avoid the build up of dust or grit as this becomes abrasive and will degrade the finish over time. A soft cloth or mop lightly dampened with a dedicated wood floor cleaner and water can also be used, as and when required.
