Back

Based on unique AkzoNobel technology Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt Emulsion Paint is a water-based emulsion that is perfect for interior walls and ceilings. It offers a tough, durable matt finish that is washable making it ideal for busy household and commercial environments.

Please note: This product may not be suitable where condensation is a problem e.g. some kitchens and bathrooms.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

For best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants.

  1. Remove all loose and defective paint with a paint scraper by sanding or with a paint stripper
  2. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they may contain harmful lead
  3. Where necessary, wash the surface to remove dirt, grease and powdery or dusty residues
  4. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry
  5. Any surface defects should be filled with an appropriate filler
  6. If required, rub down surfaces and then wipe off with a damp, lint-free cloth to remove dust
  7. Seal all surfaces that remain powdery after thorough preparation with an appropriate plaster sealer, or use Dulux Trade Stain Block Matt, which will also seal in any stains

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

For best colour consistency, purchase sufficient paint for each project including enough for touch-in at a later time.

  1. Stir the paint thoroughly before and periodically during use
  2. Apply Dulux Trade paint with a good quality synthetic brush, microfibre roller, conventional spray or airless spray system
  3. Seal new or bare surfaces with a thinned first coat of Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt (up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint)
  4. The normal finishing process is 2 full coats of Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt
  5. Previously painted surfaces in good condition, where a similar colour has been used, may only require 1 coat

Thinning Guidelines

  • Sealing new or bare surfaces: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint
  • Normal use (not to be exceeded): Add up to 1 part clean water to 10 parts paint
  • Conventional spray application: Add up to 1 part clean water to 2.5 parts paint
  • Airless spray application: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint

Is Trade Vinyl Matt Paint rain waterproof and suitable for the bathroom?

Although a tough a durable paint, this product may not be suitable where condensation is a problem e.g. some kitchens and bathrooms. I would instead consider a dedicated bathroom paint which can stand up to high moisture areas with added mould protection, such as Dulux Easycare Bathroom Soft Sheen

Excellent quality
We're very pleased with this product. It is pricey but we actually only needed one coat on most walls. Excellent quality paint.

I would definitely buy this paint again
Lovely smooth paint. Does not drip even when painting ceiling with roller.

Not cheap, but vastly better quality
Brilliant emulsion white paint is everywhere, bargain prices and sometimes even in Dulux bargain pails. In my experience all they are are watered down versions of the real thing. One coat properly applied is equal to several of the cheap stuff. (Once upon a time I advertised Crown paints and have happy memories of factory visits to Darwen and mixing bulk paints so I have some idea of how paints are mixed - a remarkably crude procedure)
