Preparation

Preparation

Back

To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be primed are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry) and free from all defective or poorly adhering material such as dirt, grease and wax.

  • Thoroughly rub down previously painted surfaces, using wet flatting methods where possible, then wipe off with a damp, lint-free cloth or vacuum to remove all traces of sanding dust
  • Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Do not apply at temperatures below 5°C. For Health & Safety reasons relating to all solvent-based paints, spray application is not recommended.

  1. Stir the undercoat thoroughly before and periodically during use
  2. Apply a single, even coat of Dulux Trade Undercoat with a good quality synthetic paint brush or microfibre roller
  3. Allow a minimum of 6 hours for the undercoat to dry
  4. Follow up with 1 or 2 coats of a chosen top coat

Finishing

Replacement good
This was a replacement for a tin of PBW satinwood that had been damaged on arrival. Wood Finishes were prompt and courteous and replaced the paint at once. They were keen to find out about the damage and seem to take it seriously.
