Dulux Heritage Eggshell

Dulux Heritage Eggshell is a water based paint that is suitable for wood and metal application, such as interior doors, window frames and skirting boards. Offering an excellent flow from the brush to the substrate makes for an easy application and it can compliment the Dulux Heritage Velvet Matt range.

To achieve optimum results, ensure the project area will be clean, dry and structurally sound, being free of dirt, dust and grime, or any other contaminates.

• Clear all unsound, flaking and old paint either by sanding or with the use of a paint scraper, using the wet flatting technique if necessary
• Extra caution should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain hazardous levels of lead
• If the growth of organic material is present, such as mould, fungal, lichen or algal growths, the apply a suitable antifungal solution
• Use a suitable detergent if it is necessary to remove any trace of oil or grease and rinse the surface clean
• Any surface defects, such as cracks or holes, should be plugged and filled with an appropriate filler and then sanded flat
• Treat any knots in wood with an appropriate knotting solution
• For iron and steel surfaces, ensure all loose scale and rust is removed by thorough either scraping or the use of a wire brush
• Apply a final rinse to the project area with clean water to remove any residue of dust and allow to thoroughly dry

Always produce a test area beforehand to evaluate the product suitability and the final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

To reliably maintain the colour consistency, purchase enough paint for each project including an adequate amount for touch-in at a later time.

Do not apply when air or substrate temperatures are likely to fall below 8ºC or when the relative humidity is above 80% during the application or the drying period

• Blend the pigment and paint medium thoroughly by stirring the paint before and regularly during the application, being careful to work the sides and bottom of the tin to ensure a consistent distribution of pigment and paint medium
• Apply Dulux Heritage Eggshell with a good quality synthetic brush, microfibre roller, conventional spray or airless spray system
• If a spraying system is to be employed, then refer to the manufacturer for the correct dilution ratio
• If a brush is being used, it is recommended to use the "wet edge" technique to ensure a consistent opacity and high quality results
• If being applied onto a wooden surface, then lay off in the direction of the grain
• The normal finishing process requires 2 full coats of Dulux Heritage Eggshell, however this can vary if applied over a dark surface

Cleaning

Painted surfaces can be gently wiped with a damp cloth combined with a mild detergent to eliminate surface scuffs and marks.

Maintenance

To preserve the finish, simply apply a fresh coat of Dulux Heritage Eggshell as required, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
