Dulux Trade Quick Dry MDF Primer Undercoat

For the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dust, dirt or any other surface contaminants.

• Thoroughly rub down previously painted surfaces, using "wet flatting" methods where possible, then wipe off with a dampened lint-free cloth to remove all traces of sanding dust
• Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead
• Spot prime any nail heads and metal fixings with one coat of a suitable Dulux Trade primer, like Dulux Trade Quick Dry Undercoat or Dulux Trade All Purpose Primer
• Any holes, gaps or other surface defects should be filled with an appropriate filler

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and compatibility of the finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Do not apply at temperatures below 8°C.

1. Stir the undercoat thoroughly before and periodically during use
2. Apply 1 coat of Dulux Trade Quick Dry MDF Primer Undercoat with a good quality natural brsitle brush, microfibre roller and airless or conventional spray systems
3. Allow to fully dry for 2 hours
4. Follow up with 1 or 2 coats of a chosen top coat

Thinning

• Sealing new or bare surfaces: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint
• Normal use (not to be exceeded): Add up to 1 part clean water to 10 parts paint
• Conventional spray application: Add up to 1 part clean water to 2.5 parts paint
• Airless spray application: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint

Spray Recommendations

• Conventional Spray: Satisfactory through most equipment
• Airless Spray: A typical set up for airless spray application would be a minimum working pressure on paint of 133 bars (2000 lb/sq in) with a spray tip size of 0.43mm (17 thou) and a spray tip angle of 60 degrees

Once fully dry, over-coat the primed surface with a suitable Dulux Trade top coat.
