Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Satin

Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Satin is a water based paint producing a soft satin finish and is 99% solvent free, producing a low odour whilst painting. Suitable for a wide range of surfaces including wood, metal and PVCu and can be used either on interior or exterior surfaces.

To achieve the best results, the surfaces to be painted need to be sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants.

• Clear all flaking and old, unsound paint either by sanding or with the use of a paint scraper
• Extra precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they may contain harmful levels of lead
• If organic growth exists, such as mould, fungal, algal or lichen growths, then apply an antifungal, such as Sandtex Fungicidal Wash
• Wash the surface to remove any dirt, grease and dusty or powdery residues
• Any surface defects need to be be plugged and sealed with an appropriate filler
• If required, rub down surfaces and then wipe off with a damp, lint-free cloth to remove dust
• Wooden products that have oils/extractives require cleaning with methylated spirits and treat any knots with two coats of fresh knotting
• If being applied to bare metal, then lightly abrade the surface to aid paint adhesion to the substrate

If being applied to a wooden surface, then the additional steps need to be applied:

• Wooden products that have oils/extractives require cleaning with methylated spirits, frequently changing the face of the cloth, and treat any knots with two coats of fresh knotting
• New surfaces and any bare wood will need to be lightly sanded to provide a key and then undercoated with a suitable product, such as Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat

If being applied to a metal surface, then the following additional steps need to be applied:

• If being applied to new metal, excluding galvanised surfaces, then lightly abrade the surface, rinse clean followed by a coating of a metal primer and then a coat of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat
• On new bright galvanised surfaces, degrease the surface thoroughly and then pre-treat with a T wash solution, followed by applying a suitable metal primer
• Non ferrous metals require a coat of a suitable metal primer to help Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Satin adhere to the surface
• Ferrous metals need to be stripped back to their original state with the removal of all surface rust and millscale, then apply a single coat of a suitable metal primer within the same working day
• If the metal surface has been previously decorated, ensure any rust is removed, the edges of the paint are feathered, and the area washed clean and finally wet abrade the surface, rinse and allow to dry. Once dry apply one coat of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat

Always make a test area beforehand to assess product suitability and the final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

For optimum regularity of colour, purchase enough paint for each project including an adequate amount for touch-in at a later time.

Do not apply when air or substrate temperatures are likely to fall below 8ºC or when the relative humidity is above 80% during the application or the drying period

• Stir the paint thoroughly before applying and repeatedly during use
• Apply Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Satin with a good quality synthetic brush, microfibre roller, conventional spray or airless spray system
• If being applied via a spraying system then refer to the manufacturer for the correct dilution ratio
• To achieve a solid and opaque finish it is best to employ the "wet edge" technique to ensure high quality results
• If being applied to a wooden surface, then lay off in the direction of the grain
• The normal finishing procedure is 2 full coats of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Satin, though this can differ if applied over a dark surface

Cleaning

Painted surfaces can be gently wiped with a damp cloth combined with a mild detergent to eliminate surface scuffs and marks.

Maintenance

To preserve the finish, simply apply a fresh coat of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Satin as required, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.

This paint can be used on prepared interior and exterior joinery and metalwork. Surfaces may be washed with a warm water and liquid detergent solution to remove surface dirt.
