Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss

All surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and free from anything that could affect adhesion.

1. Remove loose, flaking or failing paint and feather the edges of remaining sound paint
2. Take additional precautions when preparing pre-1960s painted surfaces, as they may contain harmful lead
3. Treat mould, algae and other organic growth with a suitable fungicidal treatment, such as Sandtex Fungicidal Wash, following the manufacturer's instructions
4. Wash existing sound paint with warm water and a mild detergent to remove dirt and grease
5. Wet abrade existing sound paint to provide a key, rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry
6. Fill holes, cracks and shallow surface defects with a suitable filler, sand smooth and remove all dust

Wood

1. Remove grey or weathered wood by sanding back to a sound surface
2. Clean timber containing oils or extractives with methylated spirits, frequently changing the face of the cloth
3. Treat knots with two coats of fresh knotting
4. Sand new and bare wood with a suitable abrasive and remove all dust
5. Prime new wood and spot prime bare areas on previously painted wood with one coat of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat

Metal

1. Remove rust and millscale from ferrous metals back to clean, bright metal and remove all residues. Apply a suitable metal primer within the same working day
2. Lightly abrade new non-ferrous metal to a bright, unpolished surface, remove residues and apply a suitable metal primer
3. Pre-treat bright galvanised metal with a suitable T Wash, following the manufacturer's instructions, then apply a suitable metal primer once dry
4. On previously painted metal, remove corrosion back to clean, bright metal and spot prime exposed areas with a suitable metal primer
5. Bring forward primed areas and undercoat overall with Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat before applying the gloss

Always apply to a test area first to check product suitability and the final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin.

Purchase enough paint to complete the project, allowing extra for future touch-ups. Intermix packs before use to ensure colour consistency and check the colour before application.

Do not apply Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss if air or surface temperatures are likely to fall below 8°C, or if relative humidity exceeds 80%, during application or drying.

3. For airless spray application, dilution may be required. Follow the spray equipment manufacturer's guidelines
4. Maintain a wet edge to help achieve an even finish
5. On wood, lay off in the direction of the grain
6. Apply two full coats. Some colours may require additional coats for complete coverage
7. Allow 4-6 hours between coats under normal drying conditions, ensuring the previous coat is fully dry. Low temperatures or high humidity may extend drying times
8. Avoid excessive sanding between coats
9. Leave newly painted doors and windows open until the paint is fully dry

Cleaning

Clean painted surfaces with a soft cloth and warm water, adding a mild detergent when needed to remove surface dirt.

Maintenance

When the finish needs refreshing, apply a fresh coat of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.

Use Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat as part of the Fastflow system. Prime new wood and spot prime bare areas on previously painted wood. Bare metal requires a suitable metal primer before the Fastflow primer undercoat. Follow the Preparation instructions above for your surface.
