Overview

Overview

Back

Blanchon Maintenance Oil is ideal for the maintenance of parquet and other types of previously oiled wood flooring. Perfect for the upkeep and maintenance of floors previously treated with a 'natural' oil that is designed to retain the natural appearance of untreated, light coloured or non stained wood, white for white-oiled wood floors (or light grey), and oak for tropical woods or dark stained oiled wood floors. Blanchon Maintenance Oil is fast drying, dust, dirt and moisture resistant and doesn't require any buffing.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Floors to be treated should be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt and any other surfaces contaminants.

  1. Small stains and marks can be easily removed with Blanchon Natural Soap or Blanchon Lagoon Cleaner, using a well wrung-out, lint-free cloth or mop (never a soaked cloth)
  2. Stubborn dirt, stains or scratches can be removed by fine sanding
  3. Sweep or vacuum the floor to remove all traces of surface dust, dirt and debris

Please note: Floors with heavy wear and damage should be repaired using the original floor oil or Hard Wax Oil. This product should not be used on freshly oiled floors. Allow a minimum of 14 days for Hard Wax Oils to fully cure before applying Blanchon Maintenance Oil.

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Blanchon Maintenance Oil should be applied when oiled floors start to show signs of wear and tear such as dull patches and minor surface scratches.

Do not apply if the temperature is below 12°C and use only in well ventilated areas. Keep any aquariums and plants away from the environment where the product is being applied. This product is ready to use. Do not dilute. Shake well before and during use.

  1. Apply thinly with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth, microfibre mop or cloth
  2. Follow the direction of the wood grain
  3. Wipe off any surface excess with a clean, lint-free cloth
  4. Small localised areas can be touched up using a cotton cloth to apply and polish
  5. A buffing machine can be used during application to even out the sheen if required

Cleaning Equipment

Clean applicators immediately after use with a suitable thinner or brush cleaner. Wring out cloths and wipe tools thoroughly after application. Application cloths and rags should be soaked in water and stored in an air tight glass jar to avoid the risk of combustion.

After Use

Take reasonable precautions during the first hour following application:

  • Protect the floor using felt pads underneath table and chair legs
  • If necessary, a good quality mat placed at the entrance will retain dust and grit
  • Wipe down any water or other liquid spillages immediately and take particular care with flower pots
  • Do not move heavy furniture around
  • Remove dust with a vacuum or broom - do not use colour impregnated fabrics

Regular Cleaning

Floors can be regularly cleaned with a vacuum cleaner and using a dampened, lint-free cloth or microfibre mop with Blanchon Natural Soap or Blanchon Lagoon Cleaner. Do not use household detergents or bleaches as these will degrade the finish.

Maintenance

If floors begin to look worn or tired over time, simply apply a fresh coat of Blanchon Maintenance Oil, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.

Repair

Lightly sand the damaged area using fine-grade sandpaper before applying 1 or 2 thin coats of Maintenance Oil with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth.

This has given my floor a new lease of life
My wood floor which I have had for 5 years was beginning to show light patches in high traffic areas. My 2 young grandsons & their dog are very frequent visitors as well as my own dog. I was recommended Blanchon maintenance oil by the company who supplied the flooring. It was easy to apply and the floor looks like new. I am very pleased with the finish.

Not right
The product went on well hence the 3 stars but was not the right thing for my engineered wood floor. Although I was told this was the best one to use ( I didn't know what was originally used ) would go over any others it was not. It made my floor slippy so had to be careful walking on it. kept having to mop it to try reduce the slid on it. So no not impressed.

Great Product
Our entrance hall oiled oak floor was beginning to look its age so we decided to try Blanchon natural soap and maintenance oil. Both products are quick and easy to apply, there is no unpleasant odour with the oil which dries overnight , and the floor now looks like new. Am now thinking of having the gloss finish removed from the lounge floor and recoated with Blanchon oil.

Quality
Used to add protection to a new oiled wooden floor because the 3 small grandchildren were coming to stay. Went on very easily . I put a little in a spray bottle.Buffed up with little effort. The wood looked even better and no scratches after a week of toy cars using it as a race track . I will re-apply every year or so. A little go a long way
