Zinsser DIF Concentrated Wallpaper Stripper is a powerful and unique liquid wallpaper stripper containing special enzymes offering a superior and more effective blend of wetting agents, which effectively penetrate the paper and dissolve the paste. Suitable for use on all types of wallcoverings including vinyl, acrylic, painted and multi-layered wallpaper, textiles, foils, mylars and other sealed wallpapers.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Areas to be stripped should be cleaned to remove any surface dirt and debris that may restrict contact with Zinsser DIF Concentrate Wallpaper Stripper.

Ensure that any surfaces not intended to be stripped are covered and protected from this product

Painted and Unpainted Wallpaper

  1. Lightly score the wallpaper in a circular motion using a Zinsser Tiger Triple Head Wallpaper Scoring Tool

Vinyl Laminates and Boarders

  1. Where the wallcovering is paper-backed vinyl or acrylic, pull away the decorative layer and then lightly score the backing paper using the scoring tool in a circular motion
  2. If the top layer cannot be peeled off, score thoroughly using the scoring tool before applying the stripping solution

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area to assess performance and compatibility before starting any project. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Wallpapers

  1. Using a suitable container, mix 650ml of DIF concentrate to 8 litres of warm water
  2. Apply a thick layer of solution onto the scored surface using either spray, roller or sponge application, ensuring all areas are covered
  3. Allow to soak into the surface for 15 minutes
  4. Using a wallpaper scraper, remove the wallpaper without damaging the wall
  5. For any stubborn areas, reapply DIF concentrate as above and leave for a further 15 minutes before removing
  6. Apply a thin coat of Zinsser DIF Concentrate Wallpaper Stripper to walls, to remove any remaining wallpaper adhesive
  7. After 10 minutes, rinse walls with clean water, ensuring all DIF solution is removed, changing the water frequently
  8. Use a suitable mould and mildew killer for any mildew that is present

Wallpaper Boarders

Adhesives, similar to white glue are used for attaching boarders, which are more difficult to remove. The adhesive may soften with longer soaking.

  1. Apply a thick layer of solution onto the scored surface using either spray, roller or sponge application, ensuring all areas are covered
  2. Allow to soak for a long period of time, re-wetting with water if needed
  3. Using a wallpaper scraper, scrape away as much of the wallpaper and glue as possible
  4. Repeat treatment as necessary, stubborn areas may need several applications, leaving to soak before removing
  5. Sand any remaining areas using a 10 grit sandpaper
  6. Repair any damage to the wall using Zinsser B-I-N or Zinsser Gardz
  7. Sand to a smooth finish
Cleaning Equipment

Application equipment can be cleaned using soap and water. Once cleaned, allow to dry naturally.
