Overview

Overview

Back

PeelAway 1 Neutraliser is designed to neutralise more porous substrates after using PeelAway 1.

This is an important step in this process, as moisture containing PeelAway 1 residue may bleed out of the substrate and raise the pH of the surface. This will affect not only the adhesive properties of future coatings but their appearance too.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure surfaces to be neutralised are clean, completely dry and free from loose dirt and any other surface contaminants.

Application

Application

Back

Always do a small test area to confirm performance and compatibility before starting any project and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

  1. Mix 1 part Neutraliser with 1 part water
  2. Pour water into empty bucket then carefully add equal portion of PeelAway Neutraliser
  3. For plaster surfaces, dilute 4 parts water to 1 part PeelAway Neutraliser
  4. Pour diluted neutraliser into a garden type pressure sprayer or for smaller areas a hand-held trigger sprayer
  5. Start at the top and spray the entire surface until saturated
  6. Do not apply to surface in any way other than spraying as this may contaminate the Neutraliser
  7. Allow Neutraliser to remain on the surface until dry to the touch, but no less than 6 hours
  8. Neutralising effectiveness is maximised by scrubbing the surface once the Neutraliser has been sprayed on, but do not scrub plaster or gesso surfaces
  9. Rinse surface with a steady spray of clean water
  10. For external use apply sensible water pressure, enough to thoroughly rinse but not damage the surface
  11. Test pH level of the surface with pH paper
  12. Most accurate testing is accomplished when the surface has been allowed to air dry for a minimum of 24 hours after the neutralising process (Instructions for using the pH testing papers are attached to the handle of PeelAway 1 Neutraliser container)
  13. Moisten surface with water and apply a small strip of pH paper to the surface and note colour change and compare with pH charts on the inside of the covers of the pH papers
  14. Any surface with pH of more than 8 should be re-neutralised and left to dry thoroughly before re-testing

Good product but wear protective clothing if using it
all the peelaway products require you to wear protective clothing and they work well, the neutraliser is like very strong vinegar and if it gets into a cut or graze it does irratate
