Overview

Overview

Back

Osmo MS Advance Wood Floor Adhesive is a one component, cross linking, MS polymer-based adhesive formulated for the installation of interior wood block parquet, engineered wood plank, acrylic impregnated plank, bamboo and pre-finished and unfinished solid wood flooring.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure the wood substrate is sound, smooth, level, clean, dry and free of any dust, dirt, wax, loose paint, incompatible curing compounds or fire retardant chemicals, fungicides, release agents, sealers, or any other foreign substances that might interfere with a good bond.

  • When installing thin gauged wood, solid or engineered, irregular substrates may telegraph through as adhesive pulls wood down during curing stages. Therefore substrates must be properly leveled to prevent telegraphing
  • Fill all cracks, holes and low spots with polymer modified cementitious compound and allow to fully cure before applying adhesive
  • High spots must be ground level
  • Substrate, adhesive and wood flooring must be acclimated in an enclosed building with the HVAC operational and running for at least 72 hours before, during and after the installation
  • The installation temperature and relative humidity must be controlled between 15°C and 30°C, and between 30% and 65% relative humidity, subject to the floor manufacturers requirements. Open time will vary with temperature and humidity or porosity of the substrate
  • Wood flooring must be exposed to the air when being acclimated. However, follow the wood flooring manufacturers guidelines regarding site conditions and installation

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and end result. Follow the floor manufacturer's guidelines and instructions for layout and any special precautions for installation, as well as the product manufacturer's guidelines on the container at all times.

  1. Open the pail and cut the aluminium foil bag. Do not dilute the adhesive in any manner
  2. Apply the adhesive with a suitable trowel
  3. Working time is around 30 min. at 23°C, 50% R.H
  4. Once opened the product used up in a short time
  5. Clean the adhesive with a lint-free cloth if the adhesive is still wet
  6. Once it has hardened, it can be cleaned mechanically

Some Points of Note

  • When installing unfinished wood flooring, wait a minimum of 72 hours before sanding
  • When installing over radiant heated subfloors, turn the heat off for 24 hours before, during and 24 hours after installation. Failure to turn the heat off may result in shortened working time of the adhesive
  • Floor temperature must not exceed 27°C
  • While this adhesive is freeze-thaw stable it is necessary to protect it from freezing
  • Walking on parquet can be done after 24 hours
  • Make sure that the floor is level and that at least 80% of the adhesive is in contact with the board

Can you use MS Advance on vinyl flooring?

Yes, the adhesive can be used on non-porous substrates such as vinyl.

How do I know how much MS Floor Adhesive I need for my job?

There is approximately 1kg to every 1lt, so you can calculate this based on a coverage of up to 1.5m² per litre As a general rule, the boards need to be pressed down onto the surface and at least 80% of the adhesive should be in contact to the back of the boards. As long as contact is correct, it will be fine. We would usually recommend a coarse graded applicator trowel to help with the application.

Can I use the Osmo MS Adhesive onver self-levelling compound?

Yes, the MS Advance Adhesive will be suitable over a self-levelling compound.

Very positive
Well packaged :-Secure but easily accessible. Clear instructions that were easy to follow. Good consistency in terms of spreading and manipulation. Adhesive properties are excellent. No after issues at all - no buckling or slipping. Excellent product.

I found this product to be a little expensive
The application of this product is simple. The adhesion to the solid wood floor is very strong and the wiping clean of any overspill on a pre finished floor is easy. Over all this product matches other good products that do the same job and the others are cheaper.

Good adhesion, lot of wasted product
Good adhesion and grab on parquet flooring I was fitting. Lot of wasted adhesive as it came in a foil pouch and it was impossible to get it all out from the pouch. Once opened it set within 2 days.

Sticky AF !!!
I've used this a few times now, it's seriously sticky. Does exactly the job you want, but I'm always glad when I'm finished with it !

Great adhesive for wooden floor
Purchased this to install some 18mm solid oak floor. It was much more viscous than I'd anticipated, but did the trick. All good. Gets everywhere though, care needed!

Excellent product
I've used this and Bona R850. Both are equally excellent. For the Osmo one, I used it between a newly-poured screed floor with underfloor heating and herringbone engineered oak boards. They've been down for about 6 weeks, no issues at all, but time will tell I suppose. Certainly the boards are stuck down amazingly strongly.

A professional product
Comes in two foil wrapped bags....if not kept in the bags it will ..if left form a thick hard skin of unusable glue..even if covered with cling film. The glue is flexible and very strong. Coverage is about right..I covered 10-11 metres of not perfectly flat concrete floor.you will need to keep very clean as it sticks to everything including yourself..on a second job..and would use again would be better prepared..this is not like tile adhesive..more like a very strong silicone.
