Liberon Quick Drying Tung Oil

Liberon Quick Drying Tung Oil is a pure, natural oil, ideal for food contact surfaces and other interior and exterior wood. Each coat dries in just 4 hours, meaning that items in regular use can be quickly oiled and put back to use in no time. Being a penetrating oil it allows the wood to age gracefully and develop a natural patina.

Please note: Tung Oil is extracted from nuts and may cause an allergic reaction.

Ensure the surface to be oiled is clean, dry and free from dust, dirt or any other surface contaminants.

• Any previous finishes must be removed and the surface stripped back to bare wood
• Remove any existing wax finishes with Woodleys Wax and Polish Remover
• Remove any existing varnish finishes with a suitable paint stripper or varnish remover

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess the product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

1. Apply the Tung Oil using a natural bristle brush or lint-free cotton cloth
2. Allow the oil to penetrate for 20 minutes, then wipe off any excess oil using a clean, lint-free cloth
3. Allow to dry for 4 hours
4. Apply further coats of Quick Drying Tung Oil as above - we recommend at least 4 coats on most woods
5. To check the surface is protected, drop some water onto the wood and if the water beads, the surface is sealed
6. Allow 24 hours for the final coat to dry

Once fully dry, furniture items may be finished with Liberon Liquid Wax Polish Black Bison to achieve an improved lustre if desired.

Regular Cleaning

Oiled surfaces can be cleaned with a damp, lint-free cloth. Any spills should be wiped up immediately. For stubborn stains, a suitable wood cleaner for oiled surfaces can be used.

Maintenance

Liberon Quick Drying Tung Oil must be maintained on a regular basis. Apply at least once or twice a year, or more if required, depending upon exposure to the weather and usage, and following the 'preparation' and 'application' instructions above. On exposed external timbers, it is important to apply sufficient coats of tung oil to provide adequate protection.
