Overview

Overview

Back

Liberon Fine Wood Stripper is kind to wood and most fragile surfaces as no heavy scraping is required. It clings to the surface making it ideal for vertical surfaces.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure that the surface to be stripped is clean, dry and free from dust, dirt and any other surface contaminants.

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and performance. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Do not use in direct sunlight and avoid contact with vinyl and synthetic surfaces.

  1. Shake the contents of the tin thoroughly before use
  2. Apply a generous coat of Liberon Fine Wood Stripper using a good quality synthetic brush
  3. Allow the stripper to work for 5-30 minutes
  4. Remove dissolved finish using a plastic scraper, or Steel Wool Grade 2/0 for carved areas
  5. It may be necessary to repeat the process if more than one finish is to be removed
  6. Neutralise by cleaning with Liberon Wax and Polish Remover or white spirit
  7. Leave to dry for 24 hours, then rub down gently with Liberon Ultra Fine (0000) Steel Wool or extra fine sanding paper
  8. The treated surface is now ready to receive a new finish

Finishing

Finishing

Back

Once previous finishes have been stripped, and the surface is clean and dry, it is ready to be coated with a suitable Liberon stain or finishing product.

Fairly good
Used to remove dark finish off old Ercol furniture. The product was useful but a lot of scraping and sanding was still needed.

Very good
This Liberon stripper was very good for my project of cleaning up and restoring an old oak kitchen stool, painted some 60+ years ago, without damaging the wood.

Best paint and varnish stripper on the market
I bought this product because the reviews were good, but I thought, really! But it was as good as the reviews, one application and the stain just bubbled off leaving a good finish without any damage to the wood.
