Fiddes Premier Wood Varnish is a water based polyurethane varnish suitable for interior spaces, wooden furniture and joinery. Formulated to be non-yellowing and hard wearing, it is suitable to be applied by either a high quality oil brush or a good quality bristle or synthetic brush.

Ensure that the floor to be treated with Fiddes Premier Wood Varnish is clean, dry and free from wax, polish, dirt and other contaminants prior to application.
- Fill any holes, cracks or surface imperfections with a suitable wood filler and allow to fully cure
- Sand any areas of repair level and smooth with the surrounding wood
- If necessary, apply a detergent to remove any traces of oil, grease or dirt, rinse clean and allow to thoroughly dry
- It is recommended to sand the project area with either 120 or 150 grit sandpaper to provide a key
- Remove all traces of sanding dust with either a brush vacuum cleaner
- If needed, wipe the project area down with a damp lint free cloth to remove any dust and allow to dry

Always make a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
Do not apply at temperatures below 10°C and allow for good ventilation. Stir contents of the tin thoroughly, ensuring to work the sides and base of the tin, before and during the application to ensure a consistent finish.
- Apply the varnish thinly and evenly, using a good quality synthetic brush and finish in the direction of the wood grain
- If being applied to wooden floors, start in the corner furthest from the door and work along the length of 2 floor boards at a time to avoid overlaps
- Avoid over-brushing as this will spread the finish too thinly and affect performance
- For softwood species of wood it is recommended to apply 3 coats of Fiddes Premier Wood Varnish, otherwise only 2 coats are recommended
- Before the final coat, lightly rub down with 240 grade abrasive paper, then wipe over with a damp lint-free cloth and allow to dry
