Farrow and Ball Estate Eggshell

Before painting, ensure all surfaces are solid, clean, dry and free from dust, grease or any contaminants that could affect adhesion.

1. Carefully remove any loose, peeling or defective coatings using a scraper, sanding tool or a suitable paint remover
2. Be cautious when working on older surfaces from before the 1960s, as they may contain lead-based paints
3. Clean down areas if necessary to get rid of grease, dirt or chalky deposits
4. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water and allow the surface to dry fully
5. Repair cracks, gaps or holes with an appropriate filler, then sand back to a smooth finish
6. Lightly sand prepared areas overall, then wipe with a damp, lint-free cloth to clear away remaining dust
7. Prime the surface with the correct primer for wood, metal, or walls and ceilings, ensuring it is completely dry before applying Estate Eggshell

Before starting, always test the paint on a small, inconspicuous area to check colour, adhesion and compatibility with the surface. A significant colour change may require additional coats.

1. Stir thoroughly before and during use to maintain an even colour and sheen
2. Load brushes and rollers generously but avoid overloading to reduce drips and achieve an even coat
3. Apply evenly with a high-quality synthetic brush, roller or spray system
4. For walls and ceilings, apply in smooth, even strokes, maintaining a wet edge to avoid lap marks
5. For trim and woodwork, use long, light strokes for a smooth and even finish
6. Allow a minimum of 4 hours between coats, ensuring surfaces are fully dry before re-coating
7. Two coats are generally sufficient, though additional coats may be needed for strong colour transitions or porous surfaces
8. Avoid applying in temperatures below 10°C or in humid conditions

Once applied, Farrow & Ball Estate Eggshell will form a durable, washable finish. To keep your surfaces looking their best, follow these simple aftercare guidelines:

1. Allow the paint to fully cure for at least 14 days before carrying out any cleaning
2. For routine cleaning, gently wipe with a soft, damp cloth or sponge
3. Avoid using harsh or bleach-based cleaners as they may damage the paint surface
4. For stubborn marks, test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area before use
5. Touch up minor damage using paint from the same batch for best colour consistency
6. If repainting larger areas, apply a full coat over the entire surface to avoid patchiness
7. Keep tins sealed tightly and stored in a cool, frost-free place for future use

   Estate Eggshell is touch dry in around 2 hours and can be recoated after 4 hours in normal conditions.
6. Is Estate Eggshell washable?
   Yes, once cured (after around 14 days), it can be gently cleaned with a soft damp cloth or sponge, making it suitable for busy areas.
7. Can I use Estate Eggshell on radiators?
   Yes, it's suitable for conventional hot water radiators up to 60°C, but not for steam radiators which operate at higher temperatures.
8. Is it safe to use in children's rooms?
   As a water-based, low-VOC paint with an A+ rating for indoor air quality, it's safe for use in family homes, including children's bedrooms.
9. What is the coverage rate?
