Dulux Trade Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint

Dulux Trade Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint is easy to apply and provides protection for up to 15 years. It has excellent opacity and includes Anti-fade technology to provide longer lasting colour. It is ideal for use on most exterior masonry and rendering, including concrete, roughcast, pebble-dash and brickwork (rustic or sand-faced). Contains active ingredients to inhibit the growth of mould and algae.

Please note: Common or fletton bricks should not be painted. Painting of parapet, free standing and retaining walls below ground level damp-proof course is inadvisable as it may be difficult to prevent moisture penetration and consequent failure of the painting coat.

To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry).

1. Wash down previously painted surfaces with a detergent solution to remove all dirt, grease or chalking paint
2. Rinse off with clean water and allow to dry
3. Carefully scrape back to a firm edge all areas of poorly adhering or defective coatings and rub down thoroughly to key and feather broken edges of existing coatings
4. Treat any areas affected by mould, lichens and algae with Dulux Trade Weathershield Multi-Surface Fungicidal Wash
5. Make good minor defects with an appropriate filler, use a sand cement mix for larger holes and cracks
6. Allow to dry

Surfaces that remain powdery, friable or chalky after thorough preparation should be sealed with a coat of Dulux Trade Weathershield Stabilising Primer. Note: Do not seal sound new or bare surfaces with stabilising solution.

Always do a test area before starting any project to test for compatibility and adhesion. Follow the manufacturer's instructions at all times.

This product is for brush, roller or airless spray application. Do not use in extreme temperatures (below 7°C), or during rain, fog or relative humidity above 80°C.

Note: The spreading rate of this product will vary considerably according to the roughness and porosity of the surface. on smooth surfaces of low porosity, such as rendering: up to 16m² per litre. On textured surfaces of low porosity, such as pebbledash; 4-6m² per litre.

1. Stir thoroughly before and periodically during use
2. New or sound surfaces should be sealed with a thinned first coat of Dulux Trade Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint (add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint)
3. The normal finishing process is 2 full coats of Dulux Trade Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint
4. For previously painted surfaces where similar colours are used, 1 coat may be sufficient
5. Allow 4 hours between coats

Thinning:

1. Sealing new or bare surfaces: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint
2. Normal use (not to be exceeded): Add up to 1 part clean water to 10 parts paint
3. Airless spray application (not to be exceeded): Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint
