Dulux Trade Aqua Uniprimer

Dulux Trade Aqua UniPrimer is a high-performance, fast-drying, water-based primer with advanced adhesion properties for all major interior & exterior substrates, including wood, metal, uPVC, and glossy pre-painted surfaces. It penetrates porous substrates, seals surfaces, blocks significant stains, and inhibits rust. Its excellent opacity and professional finish mean it can also be used as an undercoat, making it the perfect solution for any project.

To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry) and free from all defective or poorly adhering material such as efflorescence, dirt, grease or wax.

When blocking stains caused by water or damp, make sure the original cause of the problem has been rectified.

For bare metal surfaces, pre-treatment is recommended to ensure good adhesion. Soak a sanding pad in a mild alkaline cleaning solution and lightly abrade on bare metal. Leave for 10 minutes and lightly abrade again. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow the surface to dry well before applying Dulux Trade Aqua UniPrimer.

Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

For best colour consistency, purchase sufficient paint for each project including enough for touch-in at a later time.

Do not use below 8°C.

1. Stir the paint thoroughly before use
2. Apply with a good quality brush, roller, or spray system
3. The normal finishing process is 1 full coat of Dulux Trade Aqua Uniprimer
4. Finish with another 1-2 coats of an appropriate Dulux Trade topcoat
5. Allow to dry for 1 hour between coats. The dry and curing time of the product will increase at lower temperatures and higher humidity's. For these conditions, as well as painting over large surface areas, covering stains, or using tinted product, leave 2 hours to dry

Thinning Guidelines

• Brush and Roller application: Thinning is not required
• HVLP spray application: Thin 20% and use a #4 Fluid Set
• Airless spray application: Can be thinned up to 5%. Use a pressure of 1100-1500 psi (80-100 bar), with a spray tip size 208/210 or 308/310 FFLP tip. Use 100 mesh (blue) filters in manifold and gun
