Overview

Back

Cuprinol Ultra Tough Wood Filler is a solvent-based, quick drying 2-part wood filler. Best for repairing damage caused by wet rot and for major joinery repairs. Cuprinol Ultra Tough Wood Filler is used before varnishing, painting or staining bare wood to repair decayed wood.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure that surfaces to be filled are clean, dry and free from dust, dirt or any other surface contaminants.

Application

Application

Back

Always do a small test area before beginning any project and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tub at all times. This product should not be thinned.

  1. Apply wood filler with a suitable filling knife
  2. For deep holes, build up in layers, allowing each layer to dry
  3. Leave proud and when fully dry sand down and dust off

Finishing

Finishing

Back

Once the filler is dry, wood can be over-coated with a suitable wood stain or wood paint.

Please Note: When over-coated the filled area may differ in colour to the surrounding area, therefore we recommend filling and finishing a test area first to ensure that the appearance is acceptable.

First class product that saves original profile. Quite expensive but with the cost to restore damaged wood material.

If I could do it, anybody can
Clear instructions, clean job, seems to work. How durable it is, only time will tell.

Good filler
I’ve used this before in conjunction with Cuprinol wood hardener and it seems to adhere well and flex. Add a bit too much hardener and it starts to set very fast but if you get the proportions right it is workable for long enough. A bigger colour difference between the hardener and filler would make it easier to see if it is properly mixed.

Easy to use, wear a mask as fumes are strong
Easy to use, dries quickly, sands easily. Best to build up in two or three layers if a deep repair, allowing it to dry between layers. Should provide a lasting quality repair that is tougher than the wood itself..
