Crown Trade Matt Vinyl Emulsion

Crown Trade Matt Vinyl Emulsion is an easy to apply water based emulsion paint which is ideal for interior use on walls and ceilings where a flat non-reflective finish is required. This trade paint offers good colour retention and excellent opacity.

To ensure optimum results, surfaces to be painted need to be sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants.

• Clear all loose and old, imperfect paint with a paint scraper or by sanding
• Special safeguards should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they may contain harmful lead
• Where necessary, wash the surface to remove dirt, grease and powdery or dusty residues
• If organic material is present, such as mould, fungal, algal or lichen growths, then apply an antifungal, such as Sandtex Fungicidal Wash
• Rinse with clean water and allow to dry
• Any surface defects need to be be plugged and sealed with an appropriate filler and then sanded smooth with the surface
• If required, rub down surfaces and then wipe off with a damp, lint-free cloth to remove dust
• Seal all surfaces that remain powdery after the preparation process with an appropriate plaster sealer, such as Sandtex Quick Drying Stabilising Solution
• Polished surfaces need to be primed with a suitable primer, such as Crown Trade PX3 All Purpose Primer or Crown Trade PX4 All Purpose Primer if a water based primer is required
• If staining or bleeding cannot be removed then patch prime with Crown Trade PX4 All Purpose Primer to help obliterate the blemish

Always produce a test area beforehand to assess product suitability and the final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

For best colour consistency, purchase enough paint for each project including a sufficient amount for touch-in at a later time.

Crown Trade Matt Vinyl Emulsion can only be applied when air or substrate temperatures are likely to be above 8ºC or when the relative humidity is below 80% during application or the drying period.

• Stir the paint thoroughly before applying and regularly during use
• Apply Crown Trade Matt Vinyl Emulsion with a good quality synthetic brush, microfibre roller, conventional spray or airless spray system
• Seal new or bare surfaces with a thinned first coat of Crown Trade Matt Vinyl Emulsion of 40% (up to 2 parts clean water to 3 parts paint)
• If being applied via a spray, refer to the spray manufacturer's requirements for the correct dilution ratio
• The normal finishing process is 2 full coats of Crown Trade Matt Vinyl Emulsion though extra coats could be required for a solid opaque finish over a dark surface

Cleaning

Painted surfaces can be gently wiped with a damp cloth to eliminate surface scuffs and marks.

Maintenance

To preserve the finish, simply apply a fresh coat of Crown Trade Matt Vinyl Emulsion as required, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
