• Wash previously painted surfaces with warm water and a suitable liquid detergent, changing the water regularly. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry
• Fill holes, cracks and shallow surface defects with a suitable filler, like Prestonett Ready Mixed Interior and Exterior Filler. Allow to dry, sand smooth and remove all dust
• Wet abrade sound gloss or eggshell paint to provide a key, then rinse away residues and allow to dry
• Prime powdery surfaces with a suitable stabilising solution, such as Sandtex Quick Drying Stabilising Solution
• Apply a mist coat of Crown Trade Clean Extreme Anti-Bacterial Scrubbable Matt diluted with 20-40% clean water by volume to porous walls and ceilings.
• Prime polished or dense surfaces with Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 where a water-based primer is required
• Patch prime bare and filled areas as appropriate for the surface. Touch in any filling carried out after priming with the same primer or diluted mist coat
• Patch persistent areas of contamination that could cause staining or bleeding with Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer

Preparation for Wood and Metal Surfaces

For wood and metal surfaces, additional preparation is required:

• On bare wood, remove dust and clean timber oils or extractives with methylated spirits. Treat knots with two coats of fresh knotting, fill defects, sand smooth and apply Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat
• On previously painted wood, remove loose coatings and grey, weathered timber. Treat exposed knots, fill defects, clean and wet abrade sound paint, then spot prime bare areas with a suitable primer undercoat
• On metal, remove rust and corrosion and apply Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat to bare areas. Prepare galvanised and non-ferrous metals with the appropriate treatment and primer, then apply a suitable primer undercoat as required

Always apply to a small test area first to check suitability, colour and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions at all times.

Ensure you have enough Crown Trade Clean Extreme Anti-Bacterial Scrubbable Matt to complete the project, allowing extra for future touch-ups. When using more than one tin of the same colour, mix the contents together before application to ensure colour consistency.

For interior use only. Do not apply if air or surface temperatures are likely to fall below 8°C, or if relative humidity exceeds 80%, during application or drying.
