Crown Trade Acrylic Eggshell

Crown Trade Acrylic Eggshell is a water based eggshell paint offering a high opacity finish on interior walls and ceilings. With being quick drying it helps to minimise disruption with the added benefit of being practically odour free with a low V.O.C.

To achieve the best results it is important to ensure the project area is structurally sound, clean and dry, free from any defects or poorly adhering material

• Any peeling, flawed and old paint will need to be removed either by sanding or with the use of a paint scraper
• Extra caution should be taken during the surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they may contain harmful quantities of lead
• Eliminate all organic growth, such as mould, fungal, algal or lichen growths, with an antifungal mixture, such as Sandtex Fungicidal Wash
• Clear any dirt, grease and dusty or powdery residues by washing the area with an appropriate detergent
• Surface defects, such as cracks and small holes, need to be be filled and sealed with a suitable filler and then sanded flat
• Wash and clean the project area to remove any residue of dust with a suitable detergent, then rinse clean and allow to fully dry
• It is recommended to coat porous surfaces with a mist coat comprising of Crown Trade Acrylic Eggshell diluted with 40% clean water
• Powdery surfaces need to be sealed with a suitable sealant, such as Sandtex Quick Drying Stabilising Solution
• Polished surface need to be primed with a suitable primer, such as Crown Trade PX3 All Purpose Primer or Crown Trade PX4 All Purpose Primer if a water based primer is required
• If there are areas of the substrate that are still showing signs of staining or bleeding, then patch prime with Crown Trade PX4 All Purpose Primer to help with obscuring the blemish

Always make a test area ahead of the application to gauge the suitability and final finish of the product. Follow the manufacturer's instructions at all times.

To ensure the consistency of colour throughout the application, purchase enough Crown Trade Acrylic Eggshell for the project area, including a sufficient amount for touch-in at a later time

Do not apply if the air or substrate temperatures are likely to be below 8°C or to exceed 80% humidity

• Blend and stir the paint, taking care to work through the edges and bottom of the tin to ensure an even distribution of the pigment within the paint
• Apply with a high quality roller for the walls and a good quality brush for cutting in the corners and around fixtures and fittings
• If Crown Trade Acrylic Eggshell is being applied by spray, then refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the recommended dilution ratio
• The normal finishing process requires 2 full coats of Crown Trade Acrylic Eggshell, however this can vary and depends on the darkness of the surface

Cleaning

Painted surfaces can be gently wiped with a damp cloth combined with a mild detergent to eliminate surface scuffs and marks.

Maintenance

To preserve the finish, simply apply a fresh coat of Crown Trade Acrylic Eggshell as required, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
