Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure that all surfaces to be painted with Quick Dry Gloss paint are clean, dry and free from all surface contaminants such as grease, grime, dust, dirt and any other loose material.

  • If necessary, move or cover furniture
  • Previously painted surfaces should be thoroughly abraded to provide a sound key before painting
  • Take care to remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum or slightly damp, lint-free cloth
  • If painting new wood or metal, prime the surface first with an appropriate primer and allow to dry
  • Keep rooms well ventilated to assist with drying times

Application

Application

Back

Always do a small test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Do not apply Quick Dry Gloss paint in damp or humid conditions or in rooms with a temperature less than 10°C.

  1. Stir well before use
  2. Apply Quick Dry Gloss with a good quality synthetic paint brush
  3. Load the brush generously and apply evenly, making sure not to overspread the paint
  4. In warm conditions, paint can dry very rapidly, so over-brushing should be avoided to prevent brush marks appearing in the finish
  5. Paint is touch dry in around 1 hour and can be re-coated in 6 hours

How long does gloss paint take to dry?

The majority of alkyd / oil paints will be dry within six to eight hours. A second coat may then be applied within 16 hours - this may vary slightly depending on the type of paint.

By comparison, quick drying latex based paints, such as Crown Quick Dry Gloss take only 1 hour to dry. A second coat can be applied as soon as 4 hours after - we recommend leaving for the full 6 hours before recoating.

How does this gloss paint compare with Crown Trade paints?

Crown Quick Dry Gloss provides excellent quality and coverage. As it is quick drying this makes it ideal for trade use.

I'm looking for a good skirting board paint, is this product suitable?

Crown Quick Dry Gloss is perfect for skirting board. It has been formulated to be tough and durable, dries quickly compared to many other gloss paints and stays whiter when compared to many solvent-based white gloss paints.

Are water-based gloss paints suitable for use on a radiator?

Yes. modern water-based gloss paints are ideal for use on radiators. It's important however to ensure that the radiator is totally cool when painting and allow a full 12 hours for the paint to harden after the final coat before turn ing radiators back on.

Is the Crown Quick-Dry Gloss water-based?

Yes, this is a water-based formula.

Excellent product
Very pleased as this paint gives good coverage and we found it touch dries in 40 minutes to an excellent finish. We have used in busy domestic areas that need good light reflection and easy cleaning and this white paint appears to give satisfaction on both counts. Thanks - will definately use again.

Excellent
Always buy this for wood. It holds colour, exactly the right consistency, and has a great gloss. Oddly found my Dad uses the same paint and says the same thing. So father and son cant be wrong! Also the price I paid, including delivery, is usually the price for a small pot (Homebase or B&Q) so here its by far a better pricing and delivered the next day with adequate packaging. Will use again and buy again. Suggested to my Dad he buys from this website in future.

Perfect Paint
This is the best white gloss paint you can buy. I have been using it for years. Once you have mastered the technique of applying it you will never go back to oil based gloss. It is a nice thick consistency, so you can load the brush well. Because it dries quickly you very rarely get runs. It doesn't smell and it stays white for years, in fact, I've never seen it yellow. If you see a review where people say it is rubbish it is because they aren't using it correctly. You load the brush well. Apply plenty of paint, do not brush it out too thinly and never ever go back and attempt to go over something you have done a minute or so ago. Finally, ignore the instructions on the Wood Finishes Direct site - you do not stir this paint.

Brilliant!
I have used this paint before and I have been very happy with it. Many other gloss paints turn yellow. This gloss stays white. The price is good too.
