Bona Mega EVO Varnish

Bona Mega EVO delivers improved performance in less time. Due to its unique capacity to self crosslink, the floor dries quicker after and between applications. Suitable for heavy domestic and medium commercial use. The non-yellowing formula delivers fast curing with excellent resistance to scratches, wear and chemicals.

Please note: for floors where there is a risk of side-bonding, e.g. end-grain floors, softwood plank floors and hardwood floors with underfloor heating, it is recommended to always use a primer before applying Mega EVO as well as taking measures to stabilise the indoor climate.

Ensure floor is acclimatised to its end-use environment. The surface must be sanded back to bare wood, dry, and free from sanding dust, oil, wax, and other contamination.

Allow lacquer to reach room temperature, insert filter and shake the container thoroughly before use. Optimal conditions for use are between 18-25°C and 30-60% relative humidity. High temperatures and low humidity shorten, low temperatures and high humidity lengthen drying time. Minimum temperature for use is 13°C

1. Sand floors back to bare wood
2. Final sanding should be done with a 120 grit sanding disk, screen or good quality sandpaper
3. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove all traces of sanding dust from the area to be varnished
4. For filling small gaps between floor boards and skirting boards, use Bona Gap Master
5. For filing holes, splits, dents and other surface imperfections, use Bona Mix and Fill or Bona Mix and Fill Plus

Wood Floor Primers

For application to softwood plank floors, endgrain floors and hardwood floors with underfloor heating, it is recommended to always use a primer. Primers help with adhesion between the varnish and floor and can help with the colouration of the final finish. Bona Mega EVO is compatible with the following Bona floor primers:

Always do a test area before starting any project to check product suitability and final finish. Shake well before use. Ensure room temperature does not fall below 13°C during application and drying. Thoroughly read and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

The following applicators are recommended for application of Bona Mega EVO:

1. Apply using a roller or floor applicator at 8-10m²/litre
2. Start at the edges and then roll with a smooth flowing action alternately across and with the grain of the wood
3. Avoid accumulations of finish and overlap wet-in-wet without interruption
4. Allow to dry before applying the next coat. Anticipate slightly longer drying time for each layer that is applied
5. If necessary, lightly sand or denib to P150 or finer before applying the final coat

Please Note: If the previous layer of finish has been allowed more than 24 hours drying time then an intermediate sanding is always required. Light foot traffic can be resumed after eight hours but the surface remains susceptible to scratching and marring until fully cured. Under normal conditions the coating achieves 80% cure after 24 hours and full cure after approximately 5 days. Do not cover or damp-mop the surface until fully cured.

Wooden floors should never be saturated with water as part of a cleaning routine as this will significantly reduce longevity and performance of the finish. Never use household cleaners / detergents as these may degrade or damage the finish.

Regular Cleaning

For optimal performance, floors coated with Bona Mega EVO will benefit from being cleaned with one of their floor mops and specifically formulated, pH balanced wood floor cleaners.

Renovation

Floors treated with Bona Mega EVO that have become dull or tired looking over time can be restored with the following products.

The Bona Mega EVO finish itself does not change colour when exposed to UV rays, however, it cannot prevent the wood itself changing colour due to the effects of UV light.
