Overview
When used in conjunction with Flameguard Ultra this Decorative thin film intumescent base coat delivers a Class 0 rating over solid timber, timber-faced boards and particle boards.
Bollom Broflame Ultra Basecoat is ideal for all types of interior timber in communal areas (e.g public buildings, schools and hospitals). Together with Flameguard Ultra this system provides a means of achieving your desired colour scheme and finish, whilst providing the highest possible fire rating (Class 0) on the painted surface. The paints are designed to inhibit surface spread of flame and heat release, providing vital escape time in the event of a fire.

Ensure the surface to be painted is sound, clean, dry and free from grease or any substance liable to give adhesion problems. Treat any knots. Scrape off any old or flaking paint until you have a firm well adhered surface; if in doubt remove all existing coatings. For existing gloss and eggshell finishes wet abrade and rinse with clean water to remove any residues.

Always do a small test area before starting any project to assess performance and end result. Follow the manufacturers instructions on the tin at all times.
- Stir thoroughly prior to application
- Application by brush or airless spray, can be applied by roller but must be subsequently laid off with a brush to achieve a smooth finish
- Must not be thinned
- Coverage rates must be adhered to in order to achieve the Class 0 upgrade
- For brush application apply in two coats taking care to avoid runs or sags allow at least 4 hours between coats
- After the second coat leave 24 hours before applying Flameguard Ultra Top coats
Please Note: For airless spray use a pump such as a Graco Ultra Max II or equivalent. A 25 mesh (100 micron) filter is recommended. Use a tip size of 0.019-0.029" (0.48-0.73mm) and tip pressure of 3500PSI (243kg/cm3). The internal diameter of the hose should be 0.375" (9.5mm). Throughout the period of application and drying the ambient and substrate temperature should be between 5-30°C with ambient relative humidity below 75%.
