Barrettine Water Seal

Barrettine Water Seal is an effective general purpose transparent water repellent formulation for vertical surfaces that leaves a breathable transparent membrane which allows moisture vapour from within the substrate to naturally evaporate whilst protecting against weathering and water penetration.

It is suitable for use on brickwork, aged concrete, render, pointing, terracotta and wood. However, it is not suitable for use on plywood.

Please note: This product was previously called 'Barrettine Premier Water Seal'.

Ensure that wooden surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from surface dirt, debris and other surface contaminates.

New Bare Wood

• If required, new bare timber can be cleaned and de-greased with white spirit prior to application of water seal

Old Untreated Wood

• Wood that has become decayed should be removed and replaced
• Cut out and burn all decayed wood at least 45cm beyond the area of damage
• Brush down the wood with a stiff broom or brush to remove any ingrained surface dirt and debris
• Traces of mould, algae or fungi must be removed with a stiff brush or scraper
• Areas that have been affected by mould, algae or fungi should be treated with Barrettine Mould and Mildew Cleaner prior to application of Barrettine Water Seal

Aged Brick or Concrete

• Any masonry paint should be removed using the Paint Panther Paint and Varnish Remover or allowed to weather for at least two years
• Using a stiff broom, brush away any dirt or debris prior to application of Barrettine Water Seal
• Any areas affected by mould or algae should first be treated with Barrettine Driveway, Decking and Patio Cleaner
• Ideally leave to dry for 24 hours and wash away any excess treatment with clean water - repeat if necessary for heavily contaminated areas

Always do a small test area before starting any project to confirm performance and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Do not apply if rain is expected. Only apply in temperatures of 5°C.

1. Apply Barrettine Water Seal using a brush, roller or spray system
2. For the best protection apply 2 coats to the area you are treating
3. Allow 24-48 hours depending on the absorbency of the substrate
