Always do a test area when starting any project and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin of wood finish you are using at all times.
- When applying wood finishes by hand, it is recommended that suitable gloves are worn
- Dip the edge of the sponge into the desired finish and carefully apply to the wood surface
- Avoid saturating the sponge in product as this may result in dripping or over application
- Allow finish to dry and clean your sponge in warm soapy water (or as otherwise directed by instructions on the tin of product you are using)
Please note: When applying wood oils, sponges should be thoroughly washed in water and stored in an air-tight container until fully dry, and before disposing of them. This is to avoid the risk of spontaneous combustion.
