Overview

Overview

Back

Woca Master Colour Oil is designed to protect and seal interior wooden floors and other surfaces. It offers resistance to liquid spills such as tea, coffee and red wine. The finish enhances the natural grain and character of the wood whilst providing excellent protection and durability.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Floors and other wooden surfaces to be treated must be clean, dry and free from all surface coatings and contaminates.

  1. New or previously oiled floors can be lightly sanded back with a 120 grit sanding disk, screen or good quality sandpaper
  2. To remove existing paint or varnishes, use a suitable paint and varnish remover
  3. Ensure that all traces of sanding dust have been removed using a vacuum cleaner
  4. Following the product instructions, thoroughly clean the area first, using Woca Intensive Wood Cleaner or Woca Intensive Wood Cleaner Spray
  5. Allow to dry for at least 8 hours before applying the oil

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

Ensure normal room temperature of 15 - 30°C and use only in well ventilated areas. Never use on wood where the moisture content is higher than 12%. This product is ready to use and does not require thinning.

  1. Mix thoroughly before and periodically during use
  2. For best results, apply with a 4 - 6mm roller, working with the grain of the wood wherever possible
  3. Work in small sections, no more than 10m² at a time
  4. Allow the oil to penetrate into the wood for 10-20 minutes, applying more on dry areas if needed
  5. Using a buffing pad or cotton cloth, work the oil fully into the grain of the wood
  6. A buffing machine can be used for larger areas
  7. Wipe over the surface with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to remove any excess oil. Failure to do so will reduce penetration of subsequent coats and produce an uneven finish
  8. Apply a second coat within 6 - 12 hours of the first coat, 100ml per 10m²
  9. Ensure the oil is polished into the surface thoroughly, using the steps above

The finished area can be subjected to light use after 12 - 24 hours after the final coat and fully utilised 5 - 7 days after applying the final coat, so will need to be protected from dirt and water to prevent staining and discoloration. Any spills should be wiped up immediately. The following precautions should be taken in the first 5 days of use:

  • Do not cover (use protective sheets) or lay rugs onto the area
  • Do not move heavy furniture around
  • Immediately wipe up any water or other liquid spillages and take particular care with flower pots
  • Subsequently, appropriate protective measures (i.e. felt pads) should be taken for table and chair legs or other objects which could mark the floor
  • If applicable, a quality doormat at the entrance will be of benefit
  • A wood floor needs the right environment and a room temperature of 19 - 21°C and 50% - 65% relative air humidity are ideal

Please Note: Newly oiled floors should not be cleaned with water or cleaning solutions for the first 7 days whilst curing. Remove dust with a vacuum cleaner, brush or cloth (do not use impregnated fabrics)

Aftercare

Aftercare

Back

Regular Cleaning

Clean surfaces weekly using a dampened, cotton cloth and Woca Natural Soap or Woca Natural Soap Spray. Never soak wooden floors with water.

Deep Cleaning

If floors and surfaces begin to look worn or tired over time, simply clean and refresh them on a monthly basis using Woca Oil Refreshing Soap or Woca Oil Refreshing Soap Spray.

Do not use household detergents or bleaches as these will degrade the finish.

Maintenance

If the finish becomes tired looking and damaged over time, apply Woca Maintenance Gel.
