Sikkens Rubbol AZ Plus

Sikkens Rubbol AZ Plus is suitable for use as both an undercoat and top coat on exterior hardwood and softwood joinery and trim as well as primed metals and hard plastics. Softer and more extensible than a traditional exterior gloss. Flexible coating moves with the wood, meaning it resists cracking and flaking.

Please Note: Rubbol AZ Plus is not suitable for use on timbers in ground contact or a marine environment.

Surfaces should be primed with Sikkens Rubbol Primer Plus prior to application. This ensures even application and coverage with the best possible bond with the substrate to minimise chances of cracking and peeling.

Ensure that timber surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from surface dust, dirt, wax and grease. The moisture content should not exceed 18% prior to coating.

Do not apply if there is a risk of rain, or when air / substrate temperatures are below 5°C or above 30°C during application or drying periods. Protect from frost and rain until dry. Failure to meet these requirements may adversely affect the drying, visual quality and durability of the finish.

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Ensure product is thoroughly stirred before and during application, otherwise sheen and minor colour variations may be experienced. This product does not require thinning as this will reduce opacity.

1. Apply 2 coats using a good quality, long-haired, synthetic bristle brush
2. The product should be applied in a full flowing coat, laying off in the direction of the grain, using the minimum number of brush strokes necessary to produce an acceptable finish
3. De-nib the surface between coats, allowing 18 hours drying time between coats
4. Allow 24 hours to fully dry after the final coat

Maintenance

The need for maintenance is indicated by a lightening in colour and reduction in sheen as the coating erodes, and a loss of water-repellent properties. If this occurs, simply apply a fresh coat of Sikkens Rubbol AZ Plus, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
