To achieve the best results it is important that all surfaces must be sound, clean, suitably dry and free from anything that will interfere with the adhesion of the materials to be applied.

New Surfaces

  1. Fill cracks and small defects in masonry surfaces with Sandtex Ready Mixed Masonry Filler and finish to match existing
  2. Surfaces with excessive suction should be treated with an application of Sandtex Trade Quick Drying Stabilising Solution

Aged Undecorated or Previously Decorated Surfaces

  1. Remove all loose and failing or suspect material by scraping or brushing with a stiff bristle brush (not wire) to a sound edge
  2. Organic growth must be treated with Sandtex Fungicidal Wash and removed
  3. For surfaces in poor condition mechanical means may be necessary e.g. pressure washing between 1500-2000 psi (102-136 bar), proprietary paint removal system, wet or dry grit blasting.
  4. Care must be taken not to damage the underlying surface
  5. Fill cracks and surface defects in masonry surfaces with Sandtex Ready Mixed Masonry Filler and finish to match existing
  6. Stabilise all bare, filled and previously decorated chalking areas with an application of Sandtex Trade Quick Drying Stabilising Solution

Always make a test area before the application to judge the suitability of the product. Follow the manufacturer's instructions at all times.

Do not apply if there is a risk of rain, air or substrate temperatures are likely to fall below 8°C or when the relative humidity is above 80% during application or drying period.

Do not use on bitumen coatings. The decoration of Fletton brickwork either facings or commons is not recommended.

  • Stir or shake well before and during use
  • Application can be performed with a good quality synthetic or bristle brush
  • Do not thin
  • Apply in one liberal coat until suction, porous, friable or chalking surfaces are stabilised.
  • Do not over stabilise
  • Touch dry after 1 hour
  • Allow 4 hours between coats
  • Colder/hotter substrates and temperature conditions will affect drying times
