Overview

Overview

Back

Rust-Oleum Radiator Enamel is an ultra-tough enamel specially formulated for all household radiators, including primed, factory finished and previously painted radiators.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure that radiators are turned off and cold prior to painting with Rust-Oleum Radiator Enamel. Surfaces to be painted should be clean, dry and free from dirt, grease and other surface contaminants.

  • Put down dust sheets to protect any areas not to be painted
  • Mask off the surrounding areas to avoid over-spraying
  • Give the area to be painted a quick sanding and remove any dust prior to painting
  • Open up doors and windows to allow for good ventilation during painting and drying

Application

Application

Back

Always do a small test area to assess colour and compatibility of the finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the can at all times.

  1. Shake the spray can well until you can hear a rattle, then continue shaking for 1 minute
  2. Hold can 20 - 30cm away from the surface and spray in a sweeping motion, slightly overlapping each stroke
  3. Ensure the can is kept the same distance from the surface and keep the can in motion to achieve the best results
  4. Apply 2 - 3 coats, allowing a few minutes between each coat
  5. If needed, recoat within 1 hour or after 24 hours
  6. Leave to dry for 24 hours before you turn the radiators back on

Cleaning Equipment

Turn can upside down and spray for a few seconds. Then wipe the nozzle with a dampened, lint-free cloth.

Is the Radiator Enamel any good for infrared panel heaters? I've used others and they yellow

As a solvent-based paint it can yellow over time if kept out of sunlight. Instead, you may wish to consider Ronseal Stays White Radiator Paint.

Can the Rust-Oleum Enamel Paint go on a fridge door to replair some chipped paint?

This product has not been tried and tested on this type of surface. If the door panel is bare and shows metal, we would recommend something slightly different where we can ensure its compatibility such as Bedec MSP Multi Surface Paint.
