Ensure that surfaces to be primed are clean, dry, and free from any dirt, dust or other surface contaminants. Make sure room temperature is above 10°c. Put down dust sheets to protect areas not to be painted.
Bare Wood
- Lightly sand wood in the direction of the wood grain
- Any old, decayed, loose wood must be removed before treating the affected area with Ronseal Wet Rot Wood Hardener prior to filling
- Any existing woodworm can be eradicated with Ronseal Woodworm Killer
- Fill any gaps in the wood with Ronseal High Performance Wood Filler or Ronseal Multi Purpose Wood Filler
- Clean and degrease the wood by wiping over with a lint-free cloth dampened with white spirit prior to coating
Previously Painted Wood
- If paint is in good condition, a light sanding is all that is needed
- If paint is flaking, peeling or cracked, it must be taken back to bare wood by stripping or sanding
- If the wood shows signs of rot or decay, follow the process above for 'Bare Wood'
- Wipe down with white spirit, being sure to remove any excess sanding dust before applying One Coat Primer

Always do a small test area before beginning any project to assess adhesion and overall performance. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Stir thoroughly before use.
- Apply Ronseal Primer and Undercoat with a good quality synthetic brush or microfibre roller
- Allow 2 hours to dry before applying a suitable top coat

Once dry, Ronseal One Coat All Surface Primer and Undercoat can be over-coated with Ronseal Stays White Ultra Tough Paint or Ronseal Stays White One Coat Non Drip Paint.
This product is also compatible with virtually any other paint from the Dulux Trade and Crown Paint ranges.

Good covering power
I had dark wood frames and skirting to cover and this did the job really well.

Does exactly what it says on the tin!
Had skirting boards and architraves renewed and found this primer & undercoat to be exactly what I needed. It's thicker than your usual undercoat or primer and was therefore easy to apply and no brush marks. I used two coats on the bare wood but could probably have got away with just one before applying top finish. Will definitely use this product again.

Easy to fit
I have fitted many floors particularly oak and found this system very easy to assemble and cut etc. Used it in a bathroom and now have what looks like and oak floor but is waterproof.

Quick drying and excellent cover
Excellent undercoat compared to many others. Offered Very good coverage even on one coat, surprising as it's water based. Quick drying -around 2 hours - and no odour.

I use a roller so needed two coats to be sure I had coverage but the primer worked well and is very tough.
