Overview

Overview

Back

Ronseal Hardwood Garden Furniture Restorer is perfect for all exterior wood, including hardwood garden furniture. It has been designed as a pre-treatment before finishing with a Ronseal Garden Furniture Oil and can also be used on softwoods.

Preparation

Preparation

Back
  1. Lightly sand or brush down garden furniture with a stiff brush to remove surface dirt and debris prior to treating
  2. Traces of mould, algae and fungi should be removed with a scraper or stiff brush
  3. Areas affected by mould, algae or fungi should be treated with Ronseal Garden Furniture Cleaner
  4. Allow the wood to dry thoroughly before treating with Hardwood Garden Furniture Restorer

Please Note: Ronseal Garden Furniture Restorer is only suitable for bare wood surfaces that have turned grey or silver over time. Any existing coatings must be fully removed before treating the timber.

Application

Application

Back

Always do a test area before starting any project to check suitability and compatibility. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Do not apply Hardwood Garden Furniture Restorer in wet conditions or if rain, frost or snow is likely before the product is dry. Stir thoroughly before use.

  1. Apply Garden Furniture Restorer liberally with a natural bristle brush
  2. Scrub the gel into the wood grain with a stiff bristle brush or scotch pad
  3. Leave to work for 15 minutes, but do not let it dry
  4. Rinse the treated wood off with plenty of water, making sure all the gel has gone
  5. One treatment should be sufficient, however, very grey wood may need a second application

Finishing

Finishing

Back

Once treated, garden furniture can be treated with a Ronseal Garden Furniture Oil for a clear finish, or with Ronseal Ultimate Protection Hardwood Garden Furniture Stain for a coloured finish.

Please Note: When staining garden furniture, the colour of the wood will affect the colour of the stain applied once dry. Always do a test area before beginning any project to assess the end result.

Fast delivery service
Does not do what it says on tin but with some effort it works I found dampening timber first helps otherwise soaks in before it can be washed off and have to start again. Leaves timber very grainy so be prepared, requires a fair bit of sanding before treating.

Easy and effective
Reading other reviews I think folk expected the wood to go back to whatever the previous stained color was. Armed with rubber gloves and a green scouring sponge, it was a doddle to scrub into the grain of the wood of an old garden bench, it just about got rid of thirty years of greyness in one application and I only needed to redo a few spots. It took it back roughly to its original untreated colour, a couple of coats of preservative later the bench looks very good. I would certainly use it again.
