Overview

Overview

Back

Ronseal Anti-bacterial Worktop Oil protects solid wood worktops and other food preparation surfaces from liquid spillages and the day to day wear and tear of a busy kitchen (though it may be used on work tops other than kitchen worktops).

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure that surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from any surface contaminates.

New Wooden Worktops

  1. Lightly sand the worktop surface with a 120 grit sandpaper
  2. Remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner
  3. Wipe the worktop surface with a lint-free cloth dampened with white spirit
  4. Allow to fully dry prior to oiling

Previously Treated Worktops

  1. Worktops that have been previously painted or varnished must be stripped back to bare wood
  2. Previously oiled wooden worktops should be lightly sanded
  3. Heavily stained or discoloured worktops may require further sanding
  4. Remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner
  5. Wipe wooden worktops with a lint-free cloth dampened with white spirit
  6. Allow to fully dry

Application

Application

Back

Always do a small test area before beginning any project to check suitability and compatibility. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Antibacterial Worktop Oil should be at room temperature prior to application. Shake tin thoroughly for at least one minute before use.

  1. Apply the worktop oil with a natural bristle brush or lint-free cloth
  2. When oiling worktops, apply thinly and evenly in the direction of the wood grain
  3. Leave for 10 minutes and then wipe off any excess oil using a clean, lint-free cloth
  4. Allow to dry fully
  5. Apply additional coats as above
  6. Recommended application is 3 thin coats, leaving 24 hours between coats

Regular Cleaning

Oiled surfaces should be wiped with a clean, dry (or damp) lint-free cloth to remove water and other liquid spillages. Stubborn stains can be cleaned with a dedicated wooden worktop cleaner.

Please Note: Avoid using household cleaners and detergents where possible as these may degrade the finish more quickly, resulting in increased maintenance periods.

Repair

For deep penetrating stains, scuffs and minor scratches, rub back the affected area with fine grit sandpaper or a scotch pad, then re-apply a localised coat of Ronseal Antibacterial Worktop Oil for a seamless repair.

Maintenance

To maintain the waterproof and anti-bacterial protection, we recommend re-oiling wooden worktops with one coat of worktop oil twice a year or more frequently if required. The worktop needs a maintenance coat when water on the worktop surface smudges instead of forming beads of water or when the worktop has lost its sheen.

Really good stuff!
As they say, ‘it does exactly what it says on the tin!’ Easy to use & apply & it seems to be doing a great job.

Good stuff
Bought this for our solid wood kitchen worktop. The finish is nice and the bonus ball is the addition of silver as an antibacterial agent. Will buy again when a recoat is needed.

Good stuff
I use this as a final surface finish for the chopping boards I make. It brings up the grain beautifully and provides an anti-bacterial coating for use with foodstuffs.

Works fine
Seems to need more frequent application than it says on the tin, but I guess that may depend on individual circumstances...

Excellent service
Deliver a product which is over £10 cheaper than b&q or Homebase. Fast efficient service. I am a very very fussy shopper and highly suspicious person of any too good to believe internet deals so it’s hard at times for me to purchase online. First time I bought anything from here, I would definitely use wood finish again. Highly recommend it to anyone. Trusted company. No hidden charges. Very good service.
