Overview

Overview

Back

Repair Care DRY FLEX® 16 is a flexible repair compound for both emergency and permanent repairs on interior and exterior wood surfaces, such as windows, doors, stairs, furniture, fascias and soffits. Ideal for larger repairs with a thickness level of 5-50mm. Once set, it has excellent mechanical features, naturally moving like wood. It can be sanded and finished to match the surrounding area. Easy to use.

Preparation

Preparation

Back

Ensure that areas to be filled are clean, dry and free from surface dust and debris, removing any damaged and rotten wood from the area.

  • To ensure maximum adhesion between the substrate and Repair Care DRY FLEX® 16, treat the prepared area using Repair Care DRY FIX UNI.

Application

Application

Back

Always do a small test area before starting any project to assess performance and end result. Follow the manufacturers instructions on the container at all times.

Optimum application is achieved between 10°C and 35°C with good air movement and ventilation.

  1. Insert both components into either the Repair Care EASY.Q High Performance Dosing Gun, ensuring tab is in the forward position
  2. Dispense both tubes onto a Repair Care EASY.Q Mixing Plate and mix using a Repair Care EASY.Q Steel Application Knife, until it reaches a light green colour
  3. Spread the mixture thinly across the mixing plate, as this will extend the application period
  4. Apply the coating to the prepared area, using the metal knife
  5. Immediately remove any excess product
  6. Allow 16 hours to fully cure

Please Note: Always wear suitable Protective clothing, goggles and Repair Care EASY.Q Disposable Nitrile Gloves.

Finishing

Finishing

Back

Once cured, the area can be sanded, planed, sawn, screwed, nailed and finished with the chosen paint or stain to match the surrounding area.

How long will a repair last if I used Repair Care?

The Repair Care products are fantastic quality and with the correct preparation and application, DRY FLEX® repairs will last for the lifetime of the substrate. The repairs will also significantly extend redecoration cycles.

Do I need to wear gloves when mixing the Repair Care?

We would recommend wearing the disposable Repair Care EASY.Q Disposable Nitrile Gloves to avoid skin contact with epoxy. Nitrile gloves are ideally suited for this purpose. Latex, vinyl, painting gloves etc. do not provide sufficient protection when you are using the Repair Care systems.

What are the differences between DRY FLEX 1, 4, and 16?

The numbers refer to approximate drying times in hours (at 20 degrees) DRY FLEX® 16 is ideal for larger projects where time is not a factor DRY FLEX® 4 is suitable for small and large repairs that need completing within a day. DRY FLEX® 1 is suitable for fast, small repairs from 5 - 10 mm in depth, for example emergency response maintenance.

How soon can I paint the timber after using Repair Care 16?

After the product has fully cured (usually 16 hours) you can begin painting. Please note- the cure time is affected by temperature, humidity and size of the repair.

Workable for longer
Sets rock solid and the 16 HR cure time is fine if you are not in a rush. Hand sanding is difficult so you do need some form of mechanical sanding.
